why do people attack
candidates' wives, husbands or families. I think it is pathetic.

2. Old, ugly tradition.
Edited on Mon Jan-12-04 11:39 PM by necso
When "Old Hickory" was running for president, part of an anti-Jackson jingle went: "How many marriages does it take to make a wife."

For those of you who don't know, this refers to the fact that Andrew Jackson's wife Rachael was still married (her divorce was not final) when he first married her and that he had to marry her again when the divorce was final.

This sort of insult drove Jackson to a frenzy... which was why it was used.

Expect the ugliness of the primaries to get much, much worse in the general election.

Forget the kid gloves --- we are fighting for the survival of the Democratic Party --- and of the democratic ideal itself. No insult hurled by any dem candidate at another is going to be anything new to the "pugs" --- or something that they would not have used anyway.

7. No attacks on families, no attacks on physical features.
All political actions and words are fair play.

8. its the lowest of the low.
I think the two posters who started similar threads should be ashamed of themselves for representing their candidates in the worse fashion they could have.
