Keep getting better, Big Dawg! I think we're going to pull this thing off on November 2nd, despite what the stupid polls say.

Clinton recovery slower than expected: report

Sun, Oct 17, 2004

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Former president Bill Clinton (news - web sites) has been recuperating from heart surgery at a slower pace than he expected, limiting his involvement in Democratic presidential contender John Kerry's campaign.

Clinton has experienced fatigue and gets exhausted after completing mile-long walks that are part of his recovery regimen, the Washington Post said, citing friends of the former Democratic president, who has been recuperating from his September 6 quadruple bypass surgery at his home in Chappaqua, New York.

He also remains in "considerable pain" from the operation's chest incision, the Post said.

Kerry campaign officials had hoped that Clinton would join Kerry in the final weeks of the campaign and appear with the Massachusetts senator at rallies in key states that could swing Republican or Democratic, the daily said. Kerry and Clinton hope the former president can appear at some events ahead of the November 2 election, campaign officials and Clinton friends told the Post. Clinton would presumably appear at events in such crucial states as Ohio and Florida.

5. I agree; my dad had a 6 month setback after a similar operation
He tried the standard recovery tactics and timetable. He ended up back in the emergency room and on a respirator.

Consequently, I knew this operation was potentially more serious with a longer recuperative period than the media was allowing in early September.

That complaint from Clinton is also very familiar. They literally cut your chestbone. My dad had considerable pain in the chest area, and also in his legs where veins are removed for the bypass.

7. I don't know anyone that had a quadruple bypass
Edited on Sun Oct-17-04 05:24 PM by Gman
that was ever the same afterwards. They all had the same thing, being easily exhausted, often sick. They have all lived quite a few more years, but never kept up the same pace of activity.

I was never optimistic Bill would be able to campaign for Kerry this year, and I'm even less now.
