By Barry M. Horstman
Post staff reporter

Some absentee ballots distributed to Hamilton County voters do not include the name of Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, local election officials confirmed today.

3. Prison Time
Shouldn't the guys who are responsible for these important matters be held accountable to the American public? It seems to me that a violation like this should be considered a felony with a decent prison sentence. That might put a little fear into these guys who seem to think the election is up to them!

6. If someone is voting for Kerry
they would know his name isn't on the ballot. So, even though it's a screw up it wont hurt Kerry as long as they get a new ballot.

7. not when it comes to apolitical undecided types
who may vote for Kerry but if he isn't in the ballot they probably aren't going to take the time to get another one. they will just mark off from what is on there and leave it at that.

9. Except For The Couple Of Dozen "Eenie-Meeny-Miney-Moe" Voters
who would decide at the last possible minute by flipping a coin... it comes up heads (Kerry)... but alas... no Kerry checkbox.

10. I see your point.
I can only see one candidate to vote for, Kerry. So I have a hard time understanding why someone would not vote for him, even
one-issue voters. We need a change.

8. What did the voters do? Is there a space to write in a candidate?

12. Explains new RW TP
I read it somewhere. Goes like such: Dems aren't excited about Kerry so they're just going to vote for all the locals and leave the Pres blank. I thought, yeah, right. Now I get it. They've left him off the ballot.

13. From the article:
Although election officials believe only two voters have received the inaccurate ballot to date, Burke said he is worried that the mix-up "will open us up to all kinds of questions and concerns."

AS IT RIGHTLY SHOULD!

I agree with the post that said a prosecution is in order. This is not a prank or a harmless oversight; someone INTENTIONALLY did this, and I'm sure there are a number of people who signed off on it.

15. Meanwhile, Ralph Nader is on a lot of PA absentee ballots he's NOT
supposed to be on! Some Penna. counties didn't wait for the court decision kicking him off the ballot before sending them out, so his name is on many ballots, basically, illegally. A quarter-million absentee ballots were sent in 2000 election in PA. If the election is close, this could be a nightmare!

Here's my earlier thread with a Lancaster County story about the problem:
