3. Joe Scarborough just said the election is over - * winner
Can you believe the whoring that is going on?

I waved campaign signs at an early voting location today and got lots of thumbs up and honking for K/E. Only on B/C waver and he did get nearly as good a response!

21. Maybe it's a good thing. Lull the republi-CONS to sleep.
If they think their guy has it in the bag, maybe a few of 'em will kick back. Urgency? What urgency? If they think their guy is really in trouble, watch 'em get out the vote. They are better off feeling complacent.

4. That's the deadly number
Bush is toast. His approval number will = his vote tally. This is the number to watch.

5. Two significant quotes from this article:
The Los Angeles Times reported Monday that some observers look at the president's approval rating as a key factor, with any rating below 50 percent spelling trouble for the incumbent.

and

Whatever trends are reflected by the numbers on job approval, favorability and right track/wrong track, few pollsters are making any predictions of what those trends augur.

The horserace numbers are eyed most suspiciously; Abromowitz notes that in the last week of the 2000 campaign, there were 43 polls. Mr. Bush was leading in 39. The next week, Al Gore won the popular vote.

6. The senior political correspondent
on Olbermann tonight said that it has consistently shown in almost every election, that a president is lucky if he gets 1 % more of the vote than his favorable rating. All the others break for the challenger.

7. I saw a Clinton pollster demonstrate this with charts
Edited on Mon Oct-18-04 10:12 PM by Stephanie
It was on C-Span. He laid the approval trend line over the vote tally and it matched almost perfectly every time, while the horse race poll numbers were far less accurate. It's the incumbent's job approval that is key when there is an incumbent in the race.

16. We also know that approval numbers vary state to state
Bush has much higher approval numbers in the south than in the northeast. When talking about stealing states like AK or NC or VA, that has to be remembered. And then remember to add Nader's take to the rating, because that's the actual number Kerry has to beat.

I would like to see every state poll include the approval rating, right track/wrong track along with the horse race numbers. Allow us to do electoral tracking on that basis!

I could not remember his name. He was terrific and it's the only thing I think about now when I hear the numbers.

10. It was Lawrence O'Donnell
he said that the rule holds true whether the candidate is Republican or Democratic and whether the race if for Governor, Senate, House, or for the White House. He says Kerry will win!

11. Did you see Aaron Brown choke out this 44% number at the end of
his show tonight.

He wanted to say it means Bush is toast and Kerry wins, but he chewed on his words and finally muttered out how it "might possibly" mean a Kerry victory.

It was priceless.

12. That muttering was because of the electrodes attached to his 'nads.
He started to say something positive about Kerry and they let him have it.

18. The problem is that the right wing has brought Kerry's down too
Negative attacks work, especially when they are targeted and sustained.

Democrats need to learn that lesson!

Kerry needs to destroy Bush in these last few weeks if we are going to win!
