Rumors are a flyin'???
I'm hearing rumors that Cheney just may step down should Bush win.

Also, that Rumsfeld is rather certain to be gone in a new Bush administration.

14. I've heard similar things
Cheney will step down, McCain will step in, McCain wii be the new sec of defense and Cheney wont step down. I though Bush would pull a terra! alert instead of showing at the debates so my gut instincts are way off.

3. Rummy Powell and RIce are as good as gone
Cheney would probably leave to set up some new puppet to run in 2008, expose him to the cameras, kissing babies.

BUT of course wont happen, cause they will all be out of a job Jan 20th

8. wouldnt surprise me though bush wont win in a clean election
ive seen articles talk about how much the entire administration is not well liked by a good many people incl retired military and other conservative but sane groups
it was suggested that their support for bush is dependent on him breaking up the gang because they know that he essentially is a puppet, and clearly influenced by the strong arms of the group

again, wouldnt surprise me but bush shouldnt win anyway...

10. Important
I was reading this morning that a Chicago local FoxNews channel had issued a report at 6:30am today that a truck had set off the radiation alarms in Chicago.

There have been no further reports.

I dont have the postcount to start a thread yet but someone needs to DU that chicago station.

13. Confirmed Quitters:
Colin Powell is leaving after this term. He announced that a long time ago, remember?
Rumsfeld widely considered to step down as well.
Possibly Ashcroft.
I really doubt Cheney...why wouldn't he leave the ticket if he was going to leave the administration? Wouldn't they replace him early, with someone more...not evil?

... have heard Ridge will be quitting.

Been waiting for Ridge to quit and endorse Kerry - he's sick of Ashcroft calling all the shots on the terror non-alerts.

Yeah, get him replaced with Wolfowitz. Wonderful improvement.
NOT!
Actually, if Wolfie becomes Secretary of Defense, you can pretty much count on a military draft taking place. Whether a draft takes place or not will have little to do with the stated wishes of a faith based administration but rather with the demands placed on the military by their faith based foreign policy (and Wolfie at the helm would be a sure sign that the demands on the military will be very great indeed).

18. Powell's Already Gone
(hum Eagle's version of song here...)

Powell sold his soul and somewhere in a closet his real self is moldy and near death. The only reason he's still listed in the * admin is that they must have somethin' on him.

Have you seen him lately? Was he at the convention? Any stump speeches?
Hmmmmmm. Very interesting.... but ....not funny.

22. Hell, I've heard so many rumors of...
...changes in this administration that if even some of them hold water, Bush would have to appoint a second transition team for his second term...

Seriously, though, I would anticipate Rumsfeld and Powell being gone (haven't heard much from them lately, it seems). The replacements----haven't thought much about it.

Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 09:01 PM by Sparkly
It's possible the CIA report that's currently being suppressed (and yet leaked) names them as negligent in regard to 9/11.

I think it's already been noted that Condi and Powell would be gone, also.

29. Overheard my boss talking
Where I work, things like Homeland Security and the grants it provides helps us out indirectly.

My boss was talking to someone else and apparently some of the higher ups in our company were up in D.C. Those folks were hearing talk that Cheney would step down allowing them to appoint someone who would then be the 2008 nominee for President. There was also talk that if Kerry won, DHS would see a cut in its budget. I don't believe that for one minute...sounds like D.C. officials were trying to influence some potential voters.

26. Consider this:
I heard this rumor many months ago when the guy who substitues for Tom Brokaw (can't remember his name) talked about it on Imus as a rumor which could turn into a real possibility. Here is his theory: Karl Rove will NEVER stand for either McCain or Guliani becoming president. They are much too moderate, and would not rapidly advance the two main aims of this administration (the corporate ownership of America, and the right-wing social agenda.) As they are now seen as the repug front-runners in 2008, how can Rove get "one of his own" in line to run for President with as much exposure as McCain and Guliani have? Cheney will resign during the first year of the new bush* administration, (health reasons) and bush* will appoint either Frist or Santorum (or someone similar) as Vice President. That person will have 3+ years on the national stage, and be in prime position to run and win the Presidency in 2008. I think it makes perfect sense. Rove keeps people in charge (Pres) who advance his ideology. Cheney obviously can't run in 2008, and they need another rovian-bush.

even if GeeDub told him to go. IMO, the only way to get rid of him is to elect Kerry/Edwards. They are the ones tough enough to remove the whole lot of 'em. It's time for REAL MEN to run our government!
