Mayor, Youngstown OH, Calls-in to LIMBOsevic, Endorsing Shrub
Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 06:45 PM by UTUSN
It turns out this is old news about his Zell-ism, but he called-in today to the LIMBOsevic circus, with diahrrea of the mouth about what a great Dem he was----yet, YET---how he just could no longer support a Dem against Shrub. He said his epiphany was at the Radio City entertainment event where JK said something about Hollywood epitomizing something-or-other, American values or whatever----that THIS in ITSELF was what made him "turn". At other points he referenced his turning as having started "six months ago". LIMBOsevic kept questioning the specific events and timeframes, supposedly to pinpoint the process of his turning, and finally said that it seemed like this jerk (my label) had been turning since long before six months---------the Radio City event having nothing to do with it.

Somthing don't smell right with this dude. This article says he's a lame duck diving for a replacement, bigger job.

Tuesday, August 24, 2004 Dem mayor backs Bush

Youngstown's McKelvey asks: What has party done for us?

By Gregory Korte
Enquirer staff writer

Youngstown Mayor George M. McKelvey - the Democratic mayor of a very Democratic rust-belt city - endorsed President Bush for re-election Monday, calling him a "friend" and a "kind, caring, God-fearing man."

The Bush campaign called it the biggest Democratic endorsement in Ohio, and one of the biggest in the country. McKelvey's endorsement puts him in a league with U.S. Sen. Zell Miller, D-Ga., and St. Paul, Minn., Mayor Randy Kelly.

"I'm still waiting for someone to show me what we've gotten in this valley for delivering 70 percent of the vote to Democrats over the last 120 years. Are we not the most depressed valley in Ohio - if not the country?" McKelvey said. ....

But McKelvey's fellow Democrats downplayed the endorsement, calling the mayor a "Republican running as a Democrat, because he couldn't get elected as a Republican." ....

Some speculated that McKelvey, a second-term mayor who's term-limited at the end of 2005, is shopping for a bigger office. But McKelvey said he would remain a Democrat, and his endorsement was based on a "personal friendship." ....

1. personal friendship
He actually admitted the endorsement was based on a "personal friendship" and not based on the candidates' policies. Aren't many of Youngstown's problems the result of politics based on personal friendships instead of sound policy?

2. Youngstown's McKelvey asks: What has party done for us?...HELLO!!
This moran apparently has missed out on the fact that the GOP now dominates all Ohio state offices...and has for 12 years...and his Pal Bush's party dominates the purse strings at the federal level.

What has the party in power done for him? Nada.

This logic seems to escape the ditto head.
