I'm going from D.C. to Phila to poll watch for Election Protection. Sign up to do something on Nov 2!!! Pull Together.
By the way, here is a letter I've been sending to newspapers. Check it out.
A President must be straight with the American people, especially on matters of national security. As the election draws near, it has become clear that President Bush was dishonest with the American people on one of the key and most frightening rationales for the war in Iraq -- namely that Iraq was close to developing nuclear weapons.
The New York Times recently endorsed John Kerry. A principal reason for the endorsement was the Bush Administration’s lack of candor on Iraqi nuclear weapons. Specifically, the Bush case on nuclear weapons was based on claims that Iraq had sought to purchase nuclear materials from Niger and that Iraq had purchased aluminum tubes for processing uranium. The Times states that the Niger claim was “the product of rumor and forgery.” As to the aluminum tubes, the Times states that this rationale was “concocted by one low-level analyst and had been thoroughly debunked by administration investigators and international vetting.”
It is now clear that the Administration knew or should have known that its case for immanent Iraqi development of nuclear weapons was, dare I say it, constructed of lies. Isn’t lying and over hyping the need for a war among the most grave betrayals of a people by their leader. I believe such dishonesty makes George Bush unfit for command. Vote for John Kerry on November 2. For more see,
