Watching the sinclair show in North Carolina...
Two weeks ago I called this station, ABC 45, and specifically asked "Are you going to air 'Stolen Honor'", I was told Yes. It is quite amusing how they have actually changed the show to this POW thing.

It has been somewhat down the middle - talked about Going Up River, showed clips, and even interviewed Butler. They talked about the bush AWOL story, 527's, Dan Rather, the media, freedom of speech, war protesting, etc. It really is all over the place.

I am watching to see who to boycott, but guess what? No ads so far, just network ads for their own ABC sitcoms and shows. Heeheehee!

1. No Ads? Woooooooooooohooooooooooooooo
I did my part in writing to advertisers; even though we don't have Sinclair here. It just seemed like the right thing to do.

From your description of the broadcast, it still seems rather radical RIGHT. Hopefully the whole thing will be a waste of air time.

Thanks for the input :hi:

3. They were planning to run this commercial-free all along, but
it's good to let sponsors know you don't want anti-Kerry smears.

23. But..........ad free or not, the advertisers were going to run ads
before and after. My purpose was to get the adverts. to withhold ad dollars IF Sinclair showed the documentary in it's original form.

The "documentary" was not shown in it's original format/form so that means "something changed" at Sinclair. :D

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaw

29. There were ads in the ten minutes leading up to the show
But only three were paid ads - K-Mart, Harris Teeter supermarkets, and some group in California called www.leapfrog.com

I wrote to each expressing my displeasure.

6. This is powerful. Do you guys get this?
We put up a fight, and we WON it. You have to understand the implications... we're passionate, and our numbers were impressive enough for Sinclair to fold, and for advertisers to shy away...

If this doesn't predict a landslide victory for Kerry, then I don't know what does. Check out FreeRepublic. They are beside themselves with anger over this coverage.

25. What's really funny is, now *they're* calling up Sinclair and threatening
to boycott, stop watching, sell stock, etc. I think a whole bunch of Sinclair employees must have been popping Excedrin like m & m's this week...

the one section where they interviewed a couple of pissed off vets and a couple of VVAW guys, definitely looked bad. The editing was poor.

8. Yup, "Stolen Honor" was going to be aired
because that's what many of the TV listings showed for these Sinclair stations.

Sinclair changed their tune quietly and basically said that what we saw tonight was what we were planning all along! (LOL)

9. Not a hit piece?
Because if it wasn't a hit piece and was even marginally fair, THAT means WE WON!!! They were never going to run ads in it in the first place. The point was to pressure advertisers to stop Sinclair from becoming the George Bush Propaganda Network. Sounds like WE DID IT!

13. does commercial free mean no breaks?
cause they kept breaking and showing "filler" of ads for ABC shows and what was coming up on the news tonight on ABC.

There were no commercials for products though.

17. We had the filler ads as well for our local news
I think that was because they couldn't fill the whole hour with their programming after we messed up their plans.

14. I am happy to here these reports about the Sinclair show.
I'll tell you what we can be proud of our efforts. Another battle won in the fight for change. People keep up the good fight and don't let up on them. I think this thing is really starting to come together. Look at Ohio, this is big and PA also. These are pretty much moderate leaning, well educated poupulus states. Kerry leading in these states in most polls outside the MOE is great. The Kerry message is resonating and these people will not buy the Bush lies anymore. I can't help but to feel this thing is coming together in a big way. We have to fight as hard as our candidate. I believe if we do we will win it and probabally win it big.

19. All political shows were dropped from two Raleigh stations: It's Reba and
some home decorating show, but their license is up for renewal in Raleigh and 17 protestors showed up on their doorstep night before last.

Could they have dropped it because we notified them, we are going to write letters to the FCC to ask for "denial of license?"

There's nothing there, yet they said when I called before the protest we participated in that they were definitely going to show "Stolen Honor."

 If the think we are going to back off the FCC complaint they are kidding themselves, though.

27. I saw it and it was NOT balanced imo
The show was full of distortions and downright lies about Kerry. Kerry supporters were shown via satellite, in poor lighting, with poor sound, and their comments were interrupted and cut. The Kerry detractors were shown in the studio, in high definition, with loud sound, and they were given a lot more airtime.

The section on W's service was a total whitewash, making it sound like the questions about his service amounted to nothing.

I wrote to the FCC that I was physically sickened by the show.

31. Hmm..
Not having seen it, I guess my question about it would be.. Would it change any (if there really ARE any) "undecided" minds?

Wasn't that SINclair's main purpose for airing it in the first place?

36. I don't think it would change the minds of anyone undecided, no
The freepers are truly divorced from reality. A lot of them seem to believe the way-out lies that Rove has spread. To them, anything short of blaming the end of the world on Kerry is "pro-Kerry."

32. EXACTLY! I emailed them to. They blatently gave the impression...
that Kerry was doing the accusing of all the worst of the war crimes he testified about, instead of retelling the testimony of others.
They REPEATEDLY did that!

And they clearly passed it off as fact that Kerry went to war and protested after simply for cynical political reasons.

It was disgusting.

28. I am glad that it was better than we thought,
but I am still angry. I have a feeling we were used by the the Sinclair Bros to create a stink so that they would have a perfect excuse why their stock tanked.

According to W. S. Larash, they made millions that they owe the stockholders of Sinclair Broadcasting group.

I have written some of the advertisers to let them know that I did not appreciate being put in the middle of an insider stock trading deal, that it cheapened me and them.
