14. A neocon
is probably not very dangerous in the alley. His hunting grounds are in Washington.

17. No animal is mean
It takes the cognitive ability of a human to form the emotions necessary for meanness.

Also, animals are not "evil".

11. AD- COMPLETE FAILURE
This kind of ad works WHEN it's subliminal - kind of like jokes. When you have to explain the punchline it's not very funny...

I hope they've spent a fortune on this ad!!!

21. totally
I mean, they have to EXPLAIN to people how scary and powerful it is. It would actually be hilarious if it weren't so pathetic.

13. WolfpacksforTruth.org Fights back!
This is funny, link was on jameswolcott.com, it turned out the filming was done by the Bush campaign masquerading as doing a commercial for Greenpeace! The page proclaims that their wolves are not terrorists! The funniest line in the page here is "... we wondered why they (the camera-people) were all driving Hummers!"

You can find this at http://www.wolfpacksfortruth.org/

I thought a good guerilla campaign might be to print up vinyl stickers that say "crying wolf" and post them on stop signs around town

Never Cry Wolf : Amazing True Story of Life Among Arctic Wolves, by naturalist, Farley Mowat.

The main part of wolves' diet is: mice.

20. Wolves get a bad rap in children's stories!
Fairy tales scared the crap out of us as little chidlren which told us wolves were most dangerous. Remember Little Red Riding Hood or The 3 Pigs, and when we were big enough for the moview, Werewolves? Lycanthropy, fear of wolves, was part of witchcraft lore in earlier times.

Modern humans are more knowledgeable now (maybe not Republicans who still believe in fairy tales) and are aware that wolves are a "noble" species; they have structured social lives, provide & protect one another. Wolves are also intelligent, and will fight to defend their home territory (but not invade other wolf lairs "for their oil!"). So are Rove's wolves a good metaphor for terrorists who kidnap innocent folks and chop off their heads, who blow up buildings, kill innocents with suicide bombs?

It has been widely discussed whether a healthy wild wolf has ever attacked a human on this continent. Although attacks on humans are uncommon, they have occurred on this continent, but RARELY. Since 1830, there have been SEVEN recorded wolf attacks on humans and ONE death. Wolves are far less dangerous to man than our own domesticated dogs.

22. this week was National Wolf Awareness Week
...I kid you not.

The National Park Service had all sorts of programs going to make people appreciate the role of wolves in the wild. It's an ongoing dedicated week every October. National Wolf Awareness Week, informing Americans that wolves are good.

Too bad nobody in the Bush administration KNEW THAT. Hahahaha!

27. Hmmm.
You know, I recall from Cub Scouts (y'know, before Boy Scouts) that one of the levels is Wolf cub. It's before bear cub, I think, and right after bobcat. I was taught many things about wolves, that the alpha wolf is a strong leader, that wolves must be united as a pack to succeed, that wolves are wise creatures helpful to man.

Y'know, Mowgli (The Jungle Book) was raised by wolves. This commercial is really dumb.

29. They had to do this because the ad didn't scare people. CNN has to remind
people that wolves are supposed to be perceived as frightening even if they're attractive with complicated social structures and they tend to avoid humans.
