Guess who is going to head up the Richmond Va GOTV phone bank
Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 06:15 PM by underpants
:hi:

ME and my WIFE!

We just got word today after coming back from the Highlander/Celtic Games at the Raceway (Large men throwing things). Basically we will be the point people and coordinate any information about who needs a ride and such with HQ. We are planning lots of food for the "experienced volunteers" (Gotta keep the workers happy). 25 phone lines.

I am off work from Wednesday until the day after the election. My wife is out of town again this week on business but will be back Friday and is off for the big push.

PUuuuuuuuuSH

www.vavictory04.com in Virginia to sign up. Contact your state/local Dem organizations or ACT or MoveON in other areas.

RIGHT NOW is the time to start if you can and haven't before.

4. Oct 18th Zogby W50-JK47% no Nader on ballot (MOE?)
Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 06:23 PM by underpants
http://www.electoral-vote.com/

Usually Zogby has about a 3% Margin of Error. It is going to be REAL close.

A couple of weeks ago the Richmond Times-Dispatch ( Yes the RW Richmond T-D )editorial pages warned the Va. Republicans that they better not take anything for granted regardless of less than half of Kerry's pro staff here pulled out. Then today this.

The Kerry campaign may have withdrawn paid staff members from Virginia and reassigned them to so-called battlegrounds, but Virginia Democrats still appear more enthusiastic than usual for a presidential race. Kerry signs are popping up in neighborhoods that in previous elections saw few Democratic props.

Soothsayers give Virginia's electoral votes to George Bush. But a determined - perhaps off-the-radar - Democratic drive could reduce the popular margin. The significance of the national popular vote compels both parties to maximize their turnout everywhere.

10. Today in Alexandria
My wife and I rode the Metro in from Maryland. As we departed the shuttle in Old Town, we noticed a Kerry/Edwards table just down the street with a line of folks picking up bumper stickers, signs, etc. We grabbed a couple of K/E round stickies to wear, and quickly noticed that hundreds, perhaps thousands of folks about town were also wearing them, with ALL demographics well covered. We saw exactly TWO B/C equivalents walking around all day. The enthusiasm factor for the Democratic ticket is in the stratosphere in Northern VA, and if turnout turns out to be a factor (is there any doubt that it will?)in a state where the candidates are 3 or 4 points apart in the polls, then Kerry certainly has an excellent chance to pull off an upset.

12. Excellent Welcome to DU
We went to the Celtic/Highlander games here in Richmond today. For 1 hour plus we walked around-we were just displayed Kerry stickers and we had ~50+ people come up to get them. We had buttons and bumperstickers, we were handing them out like candy.

Good to hear from NoVa.

Again Welcome.

a free ride to the polls. Enough folks do that and, who knows, maybe some real REpukes will miss their shot.

11. visibility day this weds
In northern va at least. Last Weds forty different groups waved signs all through Northern Virginia. Same thing is planned for this weds, and probably monday before the election.

The enthusiasm here is incredible, and it will be so sweet to have VA blue for the first time since LBJ.

21. You Go, 'Pants!!!
Pull in as many of those Demo votes as you can, man!

It sure would be great if Virginia ends up in the Kerry column. If it does go blue, it will be in large part to your work (and your wife's). Make us proud. Best of luck.

I live in Richmond but want to help GOTV in Ohio. Is it too late to vote by absentee ballot? If not, where does one go to do so? Thanx!

26. NO!-you can absentee ballot until the day before
you can mail it in or you can go fill it out at your local registrar.

28. Hey, arewe--
call your County Registrar of Voters and find out if you can do absentee voter in person. If you haven't already requested an absentee ballot in the mail, it may be a bit tight to do so; also, I don't know about your neck of the woods, but apparently Fairfax County is pleading for other departmental employees to come over and help them out with processing an unprecedented number of requests, so I might be a little anxious about getting it sorted before you leave.

Goodonyer, Mr. & Ms. Undergarments--we've got an early early morning gig with James Socas and the local CBS affiliate on Rte. 7 (!!) tomorrow morning, and I just got notice of

A Pre-election Rally with Governor Warner and assorted other candidates this Friday, 29 October, at 12:30 p.m. at Market Square in Old Town Alexandria.

So apparently not all of us received the "Kerry abandons VA" memo, huh? Go us!
