David Gelernter (Yale prof) penned a particularly amoral POS today entitled "Bush Makes Me Laugh." Apparently the jolly Dave is basing his vote on who he finds "warmly humorous," and in his mind that would be the "gently amusing" Dubya.
Re: Bush makes Me Laugh - David Gelernter (Op-Ed)
It is nice to see that David Gelernter finds George W. Bush to be so "gently amusing." That David has found a source for merriment in this wicked old humor-starved world of woe is uplifting. And since David has decided to vote with his happy heart and pull the switch for Bush, let's speculate on what he and the jolly president will find gay in the next 4 years. Perhaps another 5 or so thousand dead and maimed American service men and women lost fighting an unnecessary foreign mercantile war disingenuously peddled here as being a defense of our homeland? What hi jinx! How about a national debt that increases another trillion or so dollars as the "warmly humorous" president tap-dances us to the furthest limits of national financial solvency? Lotsa hilarity in that one, by golly! $100s of billions more borrowed from such capitols of modern humor as Communist China to finance all this new debt? Ho ho ho! Ten or so million more high paying American jobs shipped to the cheap labor markets of the Third World? Oh, how could anyone laugh any more? Wait, I know! 5 dollar a gallon gasoline! Quick! get me the smelling salts!
You know what would be truly amusing? Having a president with the skills and basic competence to perform the job we voted him into. But then again, we'd first have to have a president that we actually voted for, right? Jeez, there we go again. More Bush humor.
