North Carolina still in play?
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 08:49 AM by BrentTaylor
We're getting a new ad from the DNC on behalf of Kerry. I just saw it today. Its a brand new ad that I don't even see on their website. It talks about how Bush has neglected working families.

I guess their going to make one final push for the state

1. Haven't seen the ad but I was very excited at the polls on sat.
The turnout was high and when I left the room was full of black voters. Since no Democrat since Johnson has won with the majority of the white votes, it's nice to see that black voter turnout appears to be very high.

2. Every light red state is in play today.
Bush is incompetent and has failed to protect us and has failed to contain the looting of stockpiles of explosives in Iraq. Get the word out.

3. Was the ad on cable or network?
If it was cable, that would be part of a national ad buy.

5. it's a long shot
It'll be closer than in 2000 for sure, but Bush will probably still win the state by about 5-7%.

7. We will do better than expected in the South
but it may not translate into any additional electoral votes except for FLA.

Still, I expect a few upsets on both sides and NC may be one for us.

8. Bush lead within the margin of error
on latimes.com electoral map (which is the best one online, IMO):

12. I always thought Dean's line could be used to advantage in the south.
The line? "You've voted repuke for 30 years, what do you have to show for it?"

Followed up by the stats, job losses, etc.

13. Not exactly a good line to use in North Carolina
Which has had plenty of Democratic governors and senators. Of course, a yankee like Dean couldn't be expected to know these things, could he?

14. He's talking Presidential...
NC hasn't gone Dem since I don't even know when. Not in the last thirty years, anyway.

17. Agree....
Most of the South HASN'T voted for Republicans for 30 years. The statement comes off as snobbish...and Dean is the last person I would consider a snob.

It's a bad line. Kentucky, Georgia, Arkansas, West Virginia, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Florida all voted for Clinton.

15. From Freeperville re NC ...
"Suggestion: Everyone should take one of those cheap throwaway cameras with them to the polls and actually take or pretend to take pictures of the commies standing around with demonrat signs. Then inform them you're turning their picture over to your State Attorney General. Should be great fun! Get em all lathered up.
Post this in the North Carolina announcements, if you haven't already done so.

Make sure that every GOPer knows that you have to vote for President SEPARATELY, eventhough you vote straight ticket in North Carolina.
Undervoting for President has been going on for a while in NC:
Total votes for President 2000: 2,911,262
Total votes for Governor 2000: 2,942,062

The word is out now...photos of polling places looking for illagals voting..BIG time. The wets are looking over their shoulders. Some one must have leaked this story. Shame ...we could have nailed a lot of RATS."
