What I learned this weekend....
that Ralph reed, dubya's campaing advisor, was the former leader of the Christian Coalition.

I didn't know who this, and it freaked me when i found out.

I learned this from a show on Sundance yesterday regarding fundamentalists and their growth.

Basically they lost with Pat in 1980, and re-organized to come back strong 8 years later.

How do we get rid of this presence for good?

hastert, frist, ashcroft, reed...all "good christians". But there basic agenda goes agaisnt everything this country was founded on and for. it's anti-american.

1. Ralph Reed is an interesting case
You might look at Franken's observations on meeting him--I think they are in "Rush Limbuagh is a big fat idiot." Anyway he's pretty bad, but not as bad as some of the others (particularly compared with Ashcroft or Delay).

3. Reed is a sick, lying basatard. He likes to say
one of the reasons for taking out Saddam was his use of WMDs against Iran. He doesn't mention that we supported the effort, held Saddam's hand, and had his back. What bullshit!

2. I never forgot - I remember him and Newt and their
holier-than-thou agenda. It came back and bit them good as it will again. Doesn't it say somewhere in the New Testament "those without sin cast the first stone"?

4. Think I saw that one...
Was it "With God on Our Side - The Rise of the Religious Right in America"? To Bush supporters, this may be a very honoring, God-filled film. To me, it was a scary representation of how the "moral majority" has played a vital role in getting certain presidents into office. Very disturbing. And I swear - Jerry Fallwell is an alien lifeform.

5. That's what it was. the thing that scared me most aobut it
was the comment about regrouping and coming back in 2000. Witht he right guy. I can't remember if Pat said it, or if it was that guy talking real close to the camera.

11. Reed's Total Slime...A Charlatan
Another is Gary Bauer. These goons used the Christian Coaltion to build up a political organization and exploit them endlessly for money and votes.

Reed was one of the first "pretty boys" (they all now have that greased-hair, Brooks Bros. suit) that knew how to play the media. He was like the "kid next door" and didn't seem so bad. He's from the Atwater school that lies with a very straight face and repeats it enough that soon it becomes literal gospel.

This dude has done a lot to blur the lines of church & state for his own gain and always dangerous. It was a pleasure to see Triumph the Insult Comic Dog give him crap recently

19. There Was A Link Here...
It's a video in the spin room after the third debate, it's classic stuff. Triumph goes nuts on Paul Begala, Karl Rove and a ton of Bushbots. He tells one woman to enjoy her trip back to Stepford and asks Reed how it feels to have a pole always stuck up is butt.

Hopefully the string is still here...and you can find it in the search. It's well worth the watch.

Cheers!

6. If you really want to step into a nest of hornets ...
Have a look at some of the stuff in this thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1146495

Unfortunately, much of the information is already in the archives, and access to the archives and archive search on DU has been cut off to help with the server load. This thread has some links in it to offsite resources, though -- apparently, it's not just Christian Coalition that's involved, if you give credibility to some of the links in the thread.

8. Hey thanks!
you know, actually I was listening to Mike Malloy @ midnight Saturday/Sunday, and he was going off on Jarmin. He also mentioned he got his information right here from those of us at DU!

12. The original poster of the thread ...
and I don't know how much information is in that thread -- what started this was a letter his elderly mother received that claimed a vote against Bush* would wind up with her losing her Social Security; he started researching the organization that had sent her the letter and basically fell through the floor into a snakepit -- has been shooting his condensation of the information off to people like Malloy and Olberman, hoping to get somebody with some resources on the case. It's bizarre, in a way, to watch the connections come up -- the Unification Church, Church of Scientology, several right-wing lobbying groups ... they're all linked or directly involved in this thing. All because one right-wing propaganda group sent a Social Security letter to someone whose son got pissed off about it.

Thing is, a lot of this information has been around forever -- it's just that I've never seen anybody else pick up the pieces and start to put them together on this particular aspect of the 'vast right-wing conspiracy' they all laughed at Hillary Clinton for claiming was after Bill. She was only wrong in saying they were only after the Clinton family -- they're after all of us.

7. He sure was the head of the CC and was just as bad
as Jerry Falwell and Robertson! He was ALWAYS on TV representing the RW religious zealots.

I don't know how we get rid of him and the others. I'm HOPING John Kerry cleans house when he's elected.

Hopefully their rabid Christian fundamentalist agenda will do them in on it's own? Maybe people will "see the light?"

9. This is true. If you give anyone enough rope
to hang themselves, they do a fine job of it.

I'm fairly confident that most Americans are centered people, who know right from wrong, even if they don't always act it. I think if the fundamentalists keep going long enough their true colors will shine throuhg, and man..my feeling is the rapture will be nothing compared ot the backlash.

10. My fear is
that their true colors will shine AFTER they have control of our country. (That's their plan) :scared: THEN the sheeple will wake up, when it's too late. :(

13. I saw the same show (but I missed the last 20 minutes)..
Ralph Reed also was on the Enron payroll for at least one year (I'm not sure exactly when) and received 1,000,000 for being a "consultant." Some of this stuff leaves me dumbfounded. The hyprocrisy....

15. Ralph Reed took over the GA repub. party two years ago: Now we have
a repub governor (first time in a looooong time), a repub state senate or house (can't remember which), and of course, two republican senators on nat'l level.

Basically, he came in and totally destroyed the democratic party of georgia in about 12 months. This guy is very dangerous.

18. I don't know why SNL
hasn't asked Dave Foley (Kids in the Hall, News Radio) to come on and play that little freak! RR is a nazi just like the rest of them. He just happens to be the Albert Spear not the Geobles (Rove) and Goering (Rush) characters.
