Jim Hightower just on AAR. Says polls are BS and Kerry by a LANDSLIDE
Here's a Q&D summary:

1. Many urban dwellers hang up on pollsters
2. Cites Zogby as saying MOST polls have been skewed Repuke for some unknown reason.
3. Many "unlikely voters" will definitely show up at the polls. So the basis of "likely voters" is plain wrong.
4. Young people are heading to the polls in droves in fear of a draft and squeezing of the middle class. Young folks mostly use cell phones so they do not get polled.

IGNORE ALL POLLS! KERRY LANDSLIDE!

2. He may be right
I think the map shown in the original message is closer to the truth than "conventional wisdom" would have us believe. But we MUST GOTV.

3. Most polls are phone in polls
They tend to get people that stay at home and answer every phone call. You will not get those that.

Have cell phones only
Are not home that often- young people
Those with caller ID
Those that don't speak to junk callers
Those that don't have a phone (including college students in dorms and the poor)

it keeps Dems motivated. If Kerry were leading by 10 pts. I'm afraid too many would stay home. Even if Kerry still won, lots of local races would be effected.

9. As a volunteer phonebanker I agree
Our phonebanking is now limited to voters identified as likely supporters and strong supporters.

The list has their voter ID# and age, and almost NONE of our supporters under 30 answer the phone, EVER! And these are people who have a strong record of voting.

Our city was one of the first to offer caller ID, and I think many people who see "xyz campaign" on the screen just ignore the call.
