Remember, the only cable news operation that comes close to profit is Faux. CNN and the NBC's are just there to score points for their parent companies. When Kerry-Edwards wins, they'll drop to viewership lower than the local News in Chicago. It will be abundantly clear that they're a joke. By that time, we'll have Gore's network up. Will he ever get ratings!

Kerry's election is just the start. Strike out against media consolidation, new media companies from the left, bring back the fairness doctrine. They're toast.

The plan is to turn it into a 24 x's 7 news channel with a youth oriented format. Supposedly, they're hiring a bunch of young videographers who will go out and do real reporting. The way it's described, it will be an instant success (after all, we'll all watch!).

I didn't know about this either. CNN and MSNBC regard Fox News as a model. MSNBC executives have admitted as much.

It's the worldwide outlet of CBC in Canada and runs mostly Canadian news programs...including the outstanding "The National" every night (Canadian DU'ers know how wonderful this program is) as well as translated rebroadcasts of other worldwide television networks (NHK in Japan, RTV in Moscow, DW in Germany and so on).

It's a great resource to get a better view of international affairs and from what I've read, that's what Gore and his investor group plan to maintain. if anything they want to Internationalize it further...not quite the liberal TV network many here are dreaming of.

If there's a network with some hope, it's ABC World News Now...their start-up that's been a joy to watch...more hard news, live coverage of events and no spinmeisters.

My partner once worked for MSNBC.com and Mitchell came out to the Seattle area and spoke to a small group of people who worked there in Feb '02. In a nutshell she said:

1) they would roll out the Iraq war in Aug of 2002 (she was right).

2) that the press as a whole was reduced to covering nothing but Bush spin because the Bush administration was the most secretive in history, and that if you published anything against the admin that the reporters were punished by losing access.

3) that everyone in DC knew that Cheney was the one really calling the shots.

In other words, she knows the real deal, but apparently sucks up in public. Media whore.
