"America Coming Together" one week to go MESSAGE:
Edited on Tue Oct-26-04 07:33 PM by Eric J in MN
It's here. The final week of the most important elections of our lifetime has begun -- and it's a dead-even race. In just 7 days, Americans will elect hundreds of new leaders in federal, state and local elections.

An army of ACT canvassers and volunteers has spent all year making repeated personal contacts with millions of voters who will make the difference next Tuesday. Now, we can see clear evidence that this hard work is paying off.

We are going to win, but there is so much work left to be done. We need you now more than ever.

Your contribution of $100, $50, or even $25 right now will turn out critical Democratic votes next Tuesday. Contribute now.

By volunteering with ACT next Tuesday, you'll personally help voters get to the polls. Sign up to volunteer today.

Why am I so confident? We’ve assembled the largest get out the vote effort in American history -– hands down. And it's working!

Here’s the proof:

ACT-Iowa hit over 25,000 doors on Sunday. They’ve been chasing and will continue to chase the historic numbers of absentee ballots that were requested this year. Read more here.

Our team in Ohio recruited thousands of new voters in Democratic-friendly areas this year. They have also signed up thousands of absentee voters – more than 16,000 in Cuyahoga County alone. Read more here.

In Florida, due to the phenomenal work of our team, a sampling of eight counties shows Democrats turning out to cast early ballots in greater proportion than their share of registered voters. (Washington Post)

In Oregon, where people have been voting since last week, ACT has helped push turnout 6 points higher than it was at this point in 2000! Read more here .

And, in DC, our office is nearly empty -- we’ve deployed more than 50% of our staff to the battleground states.

As you can see, our plan is working. Next Tuesday, we'll field over 70,000 canvassers and volunteers to make sure that no voter is left behind -- and that every Democratic vote counts.

You've helped make history by supporting ACT. Now, please help us get the job done on Election Day by pledging your support and volunteering your time now, when it matters most. Thank you for everything you're doing. Don't stop!

Sincerely,
Steve Rosenthal

CEO

PS. We still need thousands of volunteers to cover all the necessary precincts. We have dozens of bus trips planned from major cities and thousands of hotel rooms on reserve for volunteers. If you haven't already, please sign up to volunteer with ACT on Election Day at www.acthere.com.
