Think Sharon's "change of heart" is the Oct. surprise?
Right on election eve, we are regaled with Knesset deliberations and a decision from ultra RW bigot Sharon that the Gaza colonial garrisons must pull out. Doesn't this seem a trifle "timely" for Bush, who has been sharply criticized for his full backing of the Butcher? I don't believe a word he says, though. The settlers will stay in Gaza after a stage-managed crisis of some kind. Even if they don't, where is the intent to end the IOF military depredations in Gaza?

1. No
I don't think many people are going to pay much attention to this at all. They've all got Iraq and "terra" on the brain.

3. No way
If anything, the Israeli right wing has been dragging this out. Sharon would have gotten this done months ago if he had everyone on board.

4. Sharon Stone?
Sharon Osbourne?

Sadly, many Americans don't even know who Ariel Sharon is...

Not an October Surprise.

5. Not an October surprise. But giving credit for giving up something that
does not rightfully belong to you and destroying it in the process leaves me cold. I do however, think it is a bold move at this time and Sharon's life is in the same danger as was Rabin's. It's just a horrible situation all the way around. It is hard on the "settlers" also. Two wrongs never make a right and in this case three wrongs won't do it either.
