3. They're working on the online loyalty
oath form coding. And if your ISP address has anything about "kerry" or "france" or "non-insane person" or "no, no kool-aid for me thanks" in it, you're out for good.

If you're not a 'yes man' you're not welcome. Don't take it too badly though, none of us at this forum are welcome at his rallies.

29. It's easy to trace IPs, though you can proxy around this
Here's a free tool that will tell you where an IP is at:
http://www.webmaster-toolkit.com/ip-address-locator.shtml

You can get services for your webserver that do this fast, but they cost a little money.

There are ways of using other IPs. You can setup a proxy in the US and connect to Bush's site through it and they won't be able to tell (except by delay, but that's too hard).

6. I vote, I'm in Germany!!!
Most people overseas probably already sent off thier ballot, so maybe they think "hey thanx for your vote now fuck off". Or maybe they're getting hit by a distributed denial of service attack and want to block some of the damage. No wait then they would do it on the IP level.

12. Another Fin?
Well, I quess it's not my "right" to visit his presidential campaing website. Just weird that I can't.

One possible explanation comes to mind tho'. Since bush isn't popular around the world, there might be quite a few hackers trying to bring that site down. Who nows.

14. I had considered the possibility
that there are some random attacks from overseas, and that they are using some sort of filtering...but again many attacks can be routed with hijacked PCs to come from US PCs as well.

18. I'm a little surpriced :)
That you can speak it that much :) . I'ts a rare and difficult language, that will do you absolutely no good whatsoever in your world (We'll with a huge exeption with your girlfriend:)). Still, I'm impressed, that you try.

Be seeing you around DU.

Martti

P.S. If your girlfriend likes scifi at all, this parody should work very well (It has an anti-bush agenda as well) (It is a Star Trek / Babylon 5 parody. Hilarious if you ask me)

There choose a type (mpeg1, divx, QT, mpeg2) of trailer you wish.

32. It doesn't make sense if they were getting hacked.
You can still do a DoS against a web server sending back "HTTP Error 403". The most powerful DoS is a simple SYN flood, on the TCP level. You basically keep sending connection attempts to the target until its operating system can't keep creating sockets, and the application (webserver) can't keep up.

They would be smarter to block things on the IP level. They've got money; they are Republican. The can afford a nice router with a service to block the stuff. Our router trys to detect and block SYN floods. They could hire a smart System administrator to solve the problem, finding blocking just the IPs/subnets they're getting flooded from.

Wait what am I saying "Bush could get smart people to fix a problem". No he can't!!! That's why this country is going down the pooper.

13. Post a correction at JohnKerry.com for the link
One of the links posted yesterday was incorrect and would have gotten that response. (assuming my limited knowledge of German allows me to translate the message correctly)

33. I'm in Germany and I was able to get onto the GWB site with a special link
You can get around the block by using an anonymizer link. Try http://www.anonymization.net/http://www.georgewbush.com. It might take a while though since the site seems to be deluged at the moment. It was featured on a tech site here in Germany and now everybody wants to see the GWB site just for the hell of it.

36. Actually, I couldn't get on and I'm in South Carolina
I'm pretty sure the shiznits think we're the base. I'm on dialup running Win98 2d ed and IE 6; another DUer not in Europe also couldn't get on and was running XP and Firefox. The message we got was to the effect that the service wasn't available. This went on, in my case, for hours and in the middle of the night. Works fine now, though.
