If Bush steal this one, I predict "invitation only inauguration" with
millions outside protesting. Another American first. What do all these disastrous "firsts" we've had to endure have in common? Idiot Boy. Connect the dots already!

1. Well...
He's not even going to TRY to walk to the White House this time. More likely to use a helipad.

Especially in DC where he has less than 30% of the vote...

4. Oh please. . .do you think they'd even let anyone inside of DC
if that happens? They'll stop us at the borders if they don't send us all straight to Gitmo.

14. Sheer volume.
100,000 turned out in Philly the other day (not a protest, but...) A quarter million in NYC. They are talking about 100,000 in Boston for the celebration. Kerry rallies are turning out tens of thousands. If they announce the theft on Dec 21, just imagine people piling into cars, driving until the roads plug up, and marching into DC. The National Guard is 5,000 miles away, how are they going to stop half a million or more people.

2. He would NEED to literally steal it.
That's his only chance for victory at this point.

13. Seriously though, I expect the suicede rate to rise.
I am not joking. I know of many sane, intelligent people who have been seriously depressed over the last four years and it's very possible that a continuation of the Bush Nightmare could push them over the edge.

Once people realize they can't just rent a U-Haul and move to Prince Edward Island, they will understand there is no escape.

16. Even in the heart of the beast
one can find grounds for hope against dispair.
This can not compare to surviving Auswitz or living throgh the chao in Chile and Argentina in the 70s and 80s.

I don't know what it will take to grapple with the problems we are faced with, but out side of something comparable to the Third Reich, ultimatey this is going to unravel.

If the Chimp wins, or if the GOP manages to steal the election again, they are going to have more of a fight on their hands than they ever had this last 4 y ears.
I predict we will get the House back the Mid Terms and the Senate now.

All this will do is stregthen my resolve. But I do keep a current passport.

Time after time FReeper rallies turn out to be insubstantial.

They will have to carry my (likely freezing) butt off of Constitution Ave if they want to have their parade. Who wants to join me? (and here is something to inspire you)

Since it fits into the four paragraph limit.

HAVE YOU BEEN TO JAIL FOR JUSTICE?

© 1998 Anne Feeney (BMI)

Was it Cesar Chavez? Maybe it was Dorothy Day
Some will say Dr. King or Gandhi set them on their way
No matter who your mentors are it's pretty plain to see
That, if you've been to jail for justice, you're in good company

Have you been to jail for justice? I want to shake your hand
Cause sitting in and lyin' down are ways to take a stand
Have you sung a song for freedom? or marched that picket line?
Have you been to jail for justice? Then you're a friend of mine

You law abiding citizens, come listen to this song
'Cause laws were made by people, and people can be wrong
Once unions were against the law, but slavery was fine
Women were denied the vote and children worked the mine
The more you study history the less you can deny it
A rotten law stays on the books til folks with guts defy it

The law's supposed to serve us, and so are the police
And when the system fails, it's up to us to speak our peace
We must be ever vigilant for justice to prevail
So get courage from your convictions
Let them haul you off to jail!

(Folk process: Change last line to: "Make them haul your ass to jail")

Thousands and thousands of us all lying in Constitution avenue.

God, I hope it isn't necessary!

17. I am with you but
the assault weaopns ban was a joke.

I don't care about folding stocks, flash supressors, or bayonet lugs...

and you can always get 30 round mags at gun shows.... :)

18. Why?
What REAL difference does the end of the ban on bayonet lugs and folding stocks make?

The so-called "assault weapons" that existed in 1994 are still around, and functionally identical versions without the offending features were available throughout the 10-year moratorium.
