CNN/HN story on Bush's religion is a free campaign ad directed
toward fundamentamentalists and evangelicals. The reporter is Walter Rogers. The ad "reports" on the idea that some people believe Bush was "chosen by God"--that's the standard Fox News trick used to plant memes that simply aren't true.

Rogers talks about how Bush and Americans are religious but Europeans, except for old people, are not. He also insinuates that the only religion that is treated well in Europe is ISLAM!!!! Oh, those evil Muslims and Europeans!!!

p.s. As soon as the election is over I am cancelling my cable for good.

2. Good question.
Why don't they just form a prayer circle instead of campaigning?

3. "chosen by God"? why? ...so he could fail?
The evidence would firmly dispute this bizarre claim.
Anyway, there is no doubt that CNN is on the Bush payroll.
It is now beyond speculation.

They will probably be running it all day.

I'm forcing myself to monitor this garbage but I can only stand it for about another week.

7. My take on BUsh's religions comittment:
Be careful not to do what is right in order to be seen by people, or you will have no heavenly reward. Do not trumpet charity like the hypocrites to gain praise; but give secretly, and your heavenly Father will give back to you secretly. Do not pray in public like the hypocrites, but pray to your Father in your room secretly.

I find the open political use of religion on Bush's part contrived, and actually find John Kerry's behavios to be more in keeping with this recommendation in scriptures.

16. EXACTLY, this is the quote I've been looking for. Why do these
so called "christians" ignore this direct guidance and put JESUS signs on their cars, JESUS T-shirts, MARKET for JESUS, those fish on their cars and scream and yell how they are christians when god specifically said not to do this! They obviously are not seeking heavenly reward but earthly recognition.

There's also a quote that says something along the lines that followers and believers should encourage people toward god, not 'turn people off' to god. I don't want to have anything to do with a christian god that these people portray through hate and intolerance and condemnation.

21. I really think that Bush's religious talk is all for effect
All politically motivated and I seriously doubt he is religious at all , or if he is, it is sort of a replacement for alcohol, as this guy has all of the standard traits of alcoholic denial. Nothing is his fault, and everything that is is covered up by his handlers. And the things that are going wrong are of nightmarish proportion. If it simply effected his own life and his family, that would be a personal tragedy, but it is becoming a public one.

but then, the fact that fox news is completely full of shit is not, itself, news.

13. A media proposition for after Kerry is elected-pushing *bits* to
be identified if they come from marketing companies that are pushing propaganda. Also requiring on EACH commentator, if not a news anchor, that the company they primarily represent be listed with their name (ie, Bill Schneider with AEI). Finally, much like food content that must have listed the primary ingredient, the so-called news channels instead be listed as Opinion and News, reflecting what there's more of.
