Bush just handed Kerry his closer on a silver platter:
"For a political candidate to jump to conclusions without knowing the facts is not a person you want as your commander in chief," Bush said. (http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=202288)

Bush was speaking about the missing explosives and Kerry's charge that Bush's incompetence allowed them to disappear.

But you couldn't have picked better words to describe what Bush did in going into Iraq, "jumping to conclusions without knowing the facts" about Iraqi WMDs.

Bush just made the case why he himself should not be commander in chief! Kerry should run with this all the way through Election Day!

Bush wasn't a candidate at the time he jumped to conclusions without knowing the facts. He was the sElected president. He is saying that CANDIDATES shouldn't jump to conclusions. Elected Presidents, however - well, its hard work...LOL

21. Kerry's already onto it. In response to Rove starting the "talking point"
... yesterday, he "suggested that Bush was the one jumping to premature conclusions". (http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stories.nsf/election2004/story/29BAE18A67AE07FB86256F3A00154DDC?OpenDocument&Headline=Bush,+Kerry+go+on+the+offensive+in+Wisconsin)

It was geared more towards the immediate explosives story. But with such a blatant, direct statement as Bush's today, I'm sure he will address it head on and say that's exactly what Bush did with the war in Iraq. He acted before he had all the facts, he couldn't wait until the inspectors were finished, he started a WAR based on jumping to a conclusion (a conclusion that we now know was wrong).

18. What an odd manner of speaking...
"For a political candidate to jump to conclusions" seems to be the subject clause of the sentence, but is not a "person" anyway...

How completely odd.

22. Everyone keeps asking this. But they must get thousands of e-mails...
... a day (and calls). I don't know that an observation from me is going to register and cause Kerry to speak out on something. If anyone has a way to more directly contact them, let me know...

But it's just too damn obvious to pass up. If Kerry doesn't pick up on this and use it against Bush, it's because (for some reason) he just doesn't want to.

My guess is that, by this evening, the Kerry soundbite will be something like this:
"So George Bush thinks that someone who jumps to conclusions before having all the facts isn't fit to be commander in chief. But isn't that exactly what he did in Iraq? He couldn't wait until all the facts were in! He couldn't wait to let the inspectors finish their job! He jumped to the conclusion that Iraq had WMDs and was a threat that could not wait, and so he rushed to war!"

27. A little too wordy, I think...I'd go with something like this
"So after no WMD's and no connection to al-quada or 9/11 in Iraq, George Bush thinks that someone who jumps to conclusions before having all the facts isn't fit to be commander in chief. I'm John Kerry and I approve of this message."

Play off the stupid "I'm G. Bush and approve of that message" comment chimp made the other day.

34. Wesley Clarke Beats Kerry To "Jump To Conclusion" Response
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 12:31 PM by priapis

“Today George W. Bush made a very compelling and thoughtful argument for why he should not be reelected. In his own words, he told the American people that “…a political candidate who jumps to conclusions without knowing the facts is not a person you want as your Commander in Chief.”

“President Bush couldn’t be more right. He jumped to conclusions about any connection between Saddam Hussein and 911. He jumped to conclusions about weapons of mass destruction. He jumped to conclusions about the mission being accomplished. He jumped to conclusions about how we had enough troops on the ground to win the peace. And because he jumped to conclusions, terrorists and insurgents in Iraq may very well have their hands on powerful explosives to attack our troops, we are stuck in Iraq without a plan to win the peace, and Americans are less safe both at home and abroad.”

“By doing all these things, he broke faith with our men and women in uniform. He has let them down. George W. Bush is unfit to be our Commander in Chief.”

32. that is why I post it on the Kerry/Edwards forum
I've already posted it there linking to here. They have people reading the online forum and I do believe it is because of the online forum that Kerry responded to the story in the first place. He knew by our responses that this would be silenced if he didn't speak out on it.
