It's not just that Dean did good things for the environment while he was governor of Vermont -- protecting undeveloped land, spurring energy conservation. It's that when Howard Dean decided to run for president, he also decided to place his full trust in the American people. We want to return that trust in full, and play our part in this emerging experiment in democracy.

Arizonan Bruce Babbitt was President Clinton's Secretary of the Interior; Californian Paul Hawken, a leading environmental activist, is author of The Ecology of Commerce; Bill McKibben, author of The End of Nature, lives in the mountains above Lake Champlain; and Terry Tempest Williams, the author of Refuge, works on environmental issues from her home in the Utah desert.

I guess that was Tsongas (who would support Dean if he were alive).
