Have you seen "Ashley's Story" Bush commercial?

Remember the famous photo of the young girl in Ohio, who had lost her Mom on Sept 11, being embraced by George Bush?

This is now commemorated in a new ad. It goes beyond merely claiming it was a kind and compassionate act by Bush, but goes on to say that Ashley, who had not recovered from her psychological trauma, was instantly healed by Bush's embrace.

Ashley says, "He's the most powerful man in the world, and yet he treated me as if I were more important." (I paraphrase.)

They have a website http://www.ashleysstory.com/ which invites you to share her story with your friends.

Just when I thought commercials couldn't get weirder than WalMart running an ad about an employee who assisted car accident victims, this.

it is indeed the most pathetic thing I've seen in awhile. I feel so sorry for Ashley--first because she has fixated on Bush as her hero, and second because she had to smell his pit. ewwww.

Actually sent me a copy of the article as a reason why he was voting for Bush. I laughed myself silly.

Don't know if you've seen the other one (by one of the "we're not supporting any candidate" wink wink people) with the young woman who's telling about her brother in Iraq (don't remember if he was killed or not) and all the sacrifices and victories of the soldiers. They show statues toppling down and buildings exploding. And the resounding message? Why of course, "We need to reelect *" (complete with shameless flag waving at the end). And that's only ONE of the vomit inducing sludge we have to put up with every 5-10 minutes.

I fully expect programming will be pre-empted this weekend on all the local networks in order to just show * ads.

LOL. While we may laugh, there are rightwing fundies out there who actually BELIEVE that bush is somehow, a godsend. Just listen to the way they lovingly refer to him as "MY President" like how they'd say "MY god". They are not allowed to criticize bush because that'd be akin to criticizing god and that is a fatal sin, I suppose.

Smarmy, over the top, and, this is mean to say, the kid is fucking ugly. Could they not have found a single cute kid who has a live GOP parent who would eagerly sell the kid into mediawhore slavery?

Hmmm.. where do I start? Grieving Dad, marketing consultant and BIG republican, "decides" to start a foundation for deceased wife, AFTER the photo op with the grieving daughter. Dad and Foundation solicits funds from people coming to the site, to 'spread Jesus's love', whatever that means. No actual programs in place, no accomplishments, no plan, no apparent Board of Director listed on the site.. Just some cheesy photos, and a plea for money.

ENTER THE 527 PAYING for the ads featuring "ashleys story". Hmmm... 5 million from Amway, 4 million from Ameriquest Mortgage, 3 million from Alex Spanos Construction, etc..

Wow.. isn't it JUST so heartwarming that this little girl's story is being told?? To the TUNE OF 40 MILLION DOLLARS?????

This is a religious right ploy, to make Bush look like he's healing people. That photo today of his laying on of hands on that little girl was the most frightening thing I've seen of a politician, since I saw a clip of a Hitler rally. I'm not being dramatic.. THIS ad, and the photo of Bush "healing" that little girl at the rally today, should SCARE THE HELL OUT OF ALL OF US!!!!

I saw this through a link on a local talk radio page, which features a lot of idiotic Photoshopped pictures of Kerry and other material which attempts to bully and ridicule Democrats. Among the intellectual rubble was Ashley's Propaganda. The only thing noteworthy about this AD is the fact that Shrubby actually looks liek a human being in this photo. Of course, it's small help, what with the fact that he looks Chimpological in almost every other photo.

I can't wait to see where he does his Sermon on the Mount.

This kid has been duped. She isn't being told the truth ... that instead of bringing the people who ultimately planned the death of her mother to "jushtish," Bush botched the job and took over Iraq for its oil and for kick-back, no-bid contracts to his and Unca Dick's corporate friends.
