Wow, I can name TWO good things about Joe Lieberman...
1. He took Bush to task for his unprincipled position against Taiwanese democracy. (To be fair, Clinton was no better.)

2. He's pro-choice. (When you list that as a quality in a Democrat, that's called desperation.)

2. He's actually reasonably good on quite a few issues
Including gay rights (except the issue of marriage) and the environment. What I dislike about Joe is that he pontificates about morality, and I guess I am too much of an agnostic to really get turned on by his style.

That being said, I'd rather have a senate full of Lieberman's than a senate with 97 Trent Lott's and 3 Wellstone's. He's generally on the right side of most issues, which is good.

3. He stands up for the little guy
Very pro-small business.

But so are the other guys, especially Gephardt.

4. I think Joe is on the right side of many Dem issues
minus the war and his constant in your face religion. I just get tired of him always talking about his god. If I wanted to hear it, I would go to church.

and I'd take Zell Miller over George W. Bush any day of the week and twice on Sundays!

7. Citing Drudge is just lazy
What does his staff do all day? Certainly not researching their press releases.

Why? I dunno.

Prove they cite Drudge more than the NYT, WP or WSJ.

LIEBERMAN STATEMENT ON CLARK IRAQ TESTIMONY

MANCHESTER, NH -- Joe Lieberman issued the following statement in response to the Drudge Report's discovery of congressional testimony from September 2002 in which Wes Clark made the case for war in Iraq. The report provides evidence directly contradicting Clark's repeated claims that he has been "very consistent" on the war "from the very beginning."

Statement by Joe Lieberman

"Yesterday, Wesley Clark attacked me for pointing out his multiple positions on the war in Iraq. It is no longer credible for Wesley Clark to assert that he has always had only one position on the war - being against it. His own testimony before Congress shows otherwise.

"He may think it is 'old-style politics' to point this out, but the only thing old here is a candidate not leveling with the American people. If we want to begin anew and replace George Bush, we need to level with the American people, which is what I have done in this campaign and throughout my career. You may not always agree with me but you will always know where I stand."

20. So Wes Clark
is not a principled man?

Wes Clark's principles saved a lot of lives in Kosovo and cost him his stars.

24. I think he really made up his mind in Septemeber of 2003 about the war.
Joe's been consistent and I respect that, Clark really hasn't.

Wes needed to co-opt it. Look what happened to Kerry, his handlers aren't stupid, in my opinion.

15. The point being
that they cite Drudge in the press release. They also say that Drudge revealed the testimony. Hello? It's public testimony. Google the original transcript, unless that is too much work.

23. It doesn't bother me, are you lazy? I know I am.
Drudge has come into wide use and I realize that, no reason to hold it against him. I'm sure the others use it too but just don't cite it. That's honesty.

14. He's more liberal according to the ADA than some favorites...
http://www.adaction.org/SenateVR2002.htm

Lieberman (D)85%
Graham, B. (D)75%
Landrieu (D)70%
Edwards, J. (D)70%
Cantwell (D)80%

Okay, so you disagree with him on Iraq but he voted teh same as Kerry, Edwards, and Gephardt.

It's time for the bias to stop.

13. Lieberman is more liberal than half of our "Democratic" candidates
I've never understood why Lieberman is the scapegoat. Well, after his performance in this primary season, perhaps I can. If he wasn't so intent on starting World War III and such an obnoxious moralizer, he would be no worse than the rest of the corporate whores.

If Gore had picked Edwards we wouldn't be having all these problems.

19. he sticks to his convictions...
votes his conscious... I think he really believes everything he says, so though I may disagree with him, I have enormous respect for the fact he is not afraid to say what he means.

He kinda reminds me of Paul, only on the wrong side of most issues : )
