Latest Bush tv ad is pretty effective, but...
is basically saying Hold your nose and vote for Bush. Admittedly Bill Clinton said this and it worked, but not as far as I know in paid television spots. Sounds like more flop sweat to me.

Runs like this: GWB and his allies in Congress did these great things: (Insert lies here; the one I remember is "common-sense approach to health care). John Kerry and liberals want to do these evil things: (raise taxes, cut intelligence, government-controlled health care; the usual crap). When you're alone in that voting booth, don't take that risk. Vote GWB.

It's that "alone in the voting booth" thing that smells of desperation.

If for some reason you have a burning desire to see this (I'm betting against) go to http://www.georgewbush.com/ and scroll down towards the bottom to the one called "The Choice."

1. How is it
"pretty effective"? I don't believe it is at all.

3. C'mon, vote for me. No one has to know. It'll be our little secret.
What a skank.

4. I sure hope you're right
As I said, to me it smells of further flop sweat, but I'm not the average American, nor am I remotely an undecided voter. For the workaday, apolitical, I-believe-the-cable-news American, I think it's going to be very effective. But I'd much rather believe that you're right.

2. I posted about this same ad this morning
because I thought it was odd

The content was your basic, "bush and republicans are good, Kerry and his liberal allies are bad" but the tagline of "Alone in the Booth, why take the risk?" intrigued me.

What makes them think that will work? Do they think that people are being FORCED to support Kerry by a bullying spouse or an obnoxious boss? Well, maybe so. Republicans do tend to project.

5. I only heard it. Did you see it as well?
Because the picture they selected at Bush's website is a little leaguer (I think) indicating that they might be bidding for security moms again. But that pretty much contrasts with the content. It's more like a bid for anybody at all who might have any doubts about Kerry and saying, "Shhhhh, you don't have to tell anybody you're voting for the chimp." Which is uh, a little less than inspiring less than a week from the election.

6. yes, I saw it
the little leaguer is the last unhappy person they show as they talk about all the horrible things that Kerry will do. I don't remember everyone, but I know there was also an unhappy looking old woman and an unhappy looking Asian woman (I've been sitting in front of my Central Florida television most of the day, so I've seen it several times).

It is a weird appeal. I don't understand it. I'm thinking that they just can't believe they aren't winning. Someone must be forcing people to prefer Kerry.
