Undecided: Here's 3 Good Reasons To Vote For Dean.
Edited on Fri Jan-16-04 02:08 AM by mzmolly
Toss aside the war and the issues for a moment.

There are 3 things that set Dean apart from the others aside from the above:

1. Money He's got the money honey, to go up against Bush

2. Inspiration He's bringing in young voters folks-do we want just a win, or do we want a win coupled with the strengthening of our party for years to come?

3. Faux news He will break up the media monopolies-thus inhibiting the Rove/Bush mind control of our nation *this again will add to our strength as a party in the long term.

Honerable mention He's got *hutzpa (sp) darnit. I know that's 4 reasons ;)

And, He'll defeat Bush soundly in the GE. Soundly I say!

I'm leaving for tonight, keep it kicked if you will :)

*replaced balls with hutzpa

2. Nice post
I think #1 and perhaps #2 are particularly valid.

With respect to your 'Honorable mention', I don't see any of the top tier candidates being pansies for Bush in this election.

3. "bringing in young voters"
really? And Kerry is going to use all the info he has against Bush, and Clark is a progressive.

How many new voters has Dean signed up?

8. Kerry should use any info he has now. I imagine he'll pass it on to the
nominee anyhow. Clark is a progressive?

Young people are inspired by Dean like they were when Bobby Kennedy was running for office *according to teachers across America*

As to how many younguns, that remains to be seen. I do know Dean has about 3500 many young volunteers in Iowa helping with the campaign.

I should have said, Dean is bringing in many NEW voters. Young and old. You'll see ;)

I love you hun, you are an inspiration, but he also:

1) appointed more women to office than any other state governor
2) signed an executive order enhancing state assistance to victims of domestic violence
3) challenged the term "partial birth abortion" from a medical perspective, saying that it is a "code word" for extremism
4) installed laws so that pregnancy rates for young teens dropped 49%.
5) led the first state to institute a statewide protocol for abuse investigations. In return, Vermont saw a 45% decline in physical and sexual abuse of children. This included a 64% decline in physical abuse victims ages 0-3 and a 43% decline in physical abuse victims ages 0-6
6) consistently, irrefutably argued that what a woman does with her body is her own decision and none of the government’s business.

Dean in 2004!

13. Okay
1) Money isn't everything, and Dean doesn't have all of it.
2) Bandwagon appeal isn't everything either. I do not vote for the sake of other voters.
3) I'll believe it when I see it. BTW, do you happen to know other candidates' positions on this issue?
4) I could care less about his genitalia.

14. Money talks and BS walks. Washington is proof.
Edited on Fri Jan-16-04 02:00 AM by mzmolly
Dean has $$ but he's not a bullshitter. Refreshing turn about.

2. "bandwagon appeal?" This is about energizing our youth, I think that's an important contribution personally. I tend not to refer to the youth of our nation as a 'bandwagon.'

Regarding #3. No other candidate has made a bold statement on this issue....yet, though most wait to see what Dean does and then follow suit if it's viewed favorably.

4. was in jest, I've never seen Dean's genitalia. :hi:

16. Edwards has been actively fighting media conglomeration
Edited on Fri Jan-16-04 02:18 AM by mbali
He has been speaking out about this, blasting Bush and FCC chair Michael Powell: "The decision by President Bush's allies on the FCC exemplifies everything that is wrong with this administration. The FCC has ignored the public's will and the public interest to enact a massive giveaway of public resources to a few privileged insiders. The result will be good for this administration's friends, but bad for free expression, bad for American democracy, and particularly bad for the forgotten corners of rural America."

And Edwards is not just talking, he took action. Among other things, he personally lobbied Powell to roll back the broadcast media ownership rule and, when that didn't work, co-sponsored a bill to do force the change. Thanks to his efforts, the bill passed the Senate last fall.

As usual, Edwards walks his talk.

What has Dean done to fight media conglomeration?

17. Dean is the only candidate that can point to concrete domestic
accomplishments.

He:

1) Turned deficits into surpluses (with a nice rainy day fund)
2) Got Healthcare Insurance coverage for over 90% of Vermonters
3) Got prescription drug coverage for 1/3 of Vermont Seniors
4) Preserved large tracts of wilderness for posterity
5) Created jobs

and a myriad of other things that only executives can take credit for. Legislators are one of many... And who knows WHAT Generals do domestically. Do they have any control over schools or anything? Who has a clue?
