Joe Lockhart is great. He is articulate, extremely likable, and a great
spokesperson for Kerry. I hope to see much more of him once the Kerry administration settles in.

2. Lots Of Good Things Happened With Joe & Mike McCurry
They came onboard and the message became clear & focused...and they knew how to stand their ground. Looks like they also have taken Thad Devine under their wing, he's gotten a lot better in recent appearances.

Joe's class plus. Ironically I didn't really like him when he first took over as Clinton's Press Secretary...he kinda had that arrogant attitude (we got it times 100 in Ari "remember me" Fleischer) but soon I saw it wasn't arrogant, it was tough.

It'll be interesting to see where Joe fits in after the election. I see him moving into video punditry ala Carville & Begala...and you know, it'd be great to see him in that role. Another person who needs to be rescued from obscurity is Bill Press.

If we're gonna prevent the right wing from dominating the national dialouge, these are the people who we need in the fifth estate who can make things happen.

Cheers!

Took the words right out my mouth.

These guys are smart, warm-blooded, and real.

I'm tired of the reptile administration's influence. Time for a return to humanity.

5. Joe L should be chief of staff. He so outclasses Ari.
I saw him walking down the street in DC with some woman during lunch time in D.C right before the 2000 election. I was walking by the White House and wanted to go up to him, but decided to leave them alone because they were engaged in what seemed to be intense conversation. He was still press secretary. I just looked at him and smiled and clapped quietly.

Always have liked him. He's MUCH better than McCurry IMO. I don't trust him. Saw him at some Repug event on c-span shortly after he left the Clinton Admin. He bragged (jokingly) about being in the upper class or something. I could be wrong about him but wasn't sure he was still a Dem.

Joe Lockhart for chief of staff!

7. That's Not A Bad Fit...
At least he won't be an Andrew Card...Mr. Pet Goat...LOL!

I'm really impressed with Joe's ability to organize "the message" and to keep others on that message. I've heard him talk about this on C-SPAN and he really understands the nuances of power and ego that are needed to get those messages heard and chatted about.

If there's one thing I'm sure Joe does and does well, is work that phone. I'll bet he doesn't miss an important call and plays his cards closely and wisely. Case in point is how the talk of the Kerry campaign being disorganized vanished the second Joe took over.

Regarding Mike McCurry...I think he felt he got burned by Clinton...as many others did...when "the lie" and the finger wag happened. McCurry's life was hell as he was caught blind-sided by this whole thing, and be honest, you know Clinton didn't brief him on any of that stuff. I'll never forget the gaggle the Monday after the Monica story broke...that had to be the longest day in that man's life...and it didn't get any better for the next six months.

If you get a chance, pick up Mike's book that he wrote circa 2000...sadly I forget the title, but it was a great read about how things happened at the time and the motives of some in the media. If you had any misgivings about Mike, this might cure some of them up. It took a while for all the shit that washed over him to get out of his system.

4. He's a great foil for RW'ers like Limbaugh and JD Hayworth.
He looks like, but for the intervention of a good parent or school teacher, he could have been like them.
