At 9:00 a.m, I went and held signs at a "visibility event" at an intersection in Chester, PA (fairly low-income area) and was met with OVERWHELMING support from the locals. A large group from Bard College in N.Y. and some of my friends were there. We had "honk for Kerry" signs and the noise was deafening!
After lunch, I went back to Chester to phone bank (which I hate doing, by the way). The few people who were home were supportive; many said they had already volunteered, would be driving retirees to the polls, etc.
Then I went to Media, PA (a wealthier area) with another group to do a lit drop. It kind of sucked because it was getting dark and I had trouble finding stuff (especially with many people not having house numbers or lights on). In Media I encountered more than token resistence, but also many supporters. After working till dark, I needed a break and happened to pass a group with Bush/Cheney signs at another intersection. I rolled down the window and said "Nice deficits, assholes" they then walked closer and said "It was worse...." but I didn't hear the end of it because I was rolling the window up. Seeing them still looking at me and the light still red, I rolled the window down again and said, very politely, "Fuck you" and then left.
Now I'm going to work some in Delaware until I collapse.
