If a GOP recording calls you, don't hang up!

Leave the phone off the hook. Word has it that that freezes the machine, and it can't make more calls.

. . . it was your post that reminded me of the machine-freezes thing and prompted me to post this advice. So if several GOP computers freeze up tonight and hundreds or thousands of people receive no call from the GOP, it will be because of your inspiration. :D

the calling party can always disconnect and an automated unit will time out.

I know this from experience. two Xmas' ago our family called us, grandma set the phone down and we couldn't close the connection at all. they had a 27 minute phone bill before someone realized the phone was just sitting here lol

Not all automated units time out.

I work with telephones myself, and not all automated units time out. It probably depends on what hardware/software the GOP is using. Anyway, I think it's worth a shot. If nothing else, keep the recording on for the time-out limit.

If you stay on the line for the full 60 seconds instead of the knee-jerk slam the phone down 5 seconds, you've just tied up a line for a substantial period of time.

12. I just got yet another recorded call from GWB

this afternoon. I've been getting a bunch of recorded puke calls and don't know why, but it's nice to know that a few other people are too.

This time I didn't hang up on it. I was going to just let it sit off the hook, but it hung up automatically, so that didn't work for me. I hope it is working for some people.
