Heard on Fox: Fed Court rules FOR poll watchers in OH.
Apparently political parties can place "observers" at the polls in OH tomorrow to challenge voters.

3. Observers are okay
That's because we need them at the polls also to prevent shenanigans with the poll WORKERs and not just the poll watchers.

5. that is such BULLSHIT! Well, who's watching the watchers?
head on out and observe those challengers. Challenge them with everything you got if they cross the line into harrassment and intimidation.

They need an equivalent of PROBABLE CAUSE to challenge.

According to Ohio's own interpretation of the law they can't just run up to anybody and demand proof of eligibility.

The poll workers should handle this. I'm so glad this is receiving scrutiny so we can have our Democratic brethren working hard to fight these Neanderthal punks who think keeping people from voting is patriotic.

6. Could someone PLEASE clarify this.
This is the third post I've seen regarding this "story" on Fox News. There is a similar thread over at Daily Kos.

I highly doubt that the 6th Circuit just released an opinion (though it's possible) so my sense is that either people are hearing it wrong or that Fox is "confused."

Anyone care to enlighten those of us who don't watch that trash??

On top of that, the 6th District Court of Appeals reversed two rulings by federal judges that would have prevented the parties from posting challengers at polling places. Earlier in the day, the judges ruled that poll workers, not outsiders, should determine voter eligibility.

16. Won't matter. We've been assuming challenges and are prepared.
This time they won't go unobserved, which seems to be the entirety of the GOP plan - theft once again. Can't steal what's watched and the rank and file will fight for their right to vote.

One more day!!!

25. From the Columbus Frontline
My brother-in-law is a lawyer (on our side). Here's an email I just got from my sister:

Okay, breathing helps.
The Vote Protection Project is back on, so David went back to his office to get his extra cell phone battery. The Dems have hired Yellow Cab to get people to the polls when needed. D will call a cab for anyone at his precinct who has to go to a different precinct to vote. It gets confusing but our county Board of Elections has things set up very strictly.
The letter David got today says that any challenger who impedes the voting process will be given one verbal warning before being ousted. A challenge has to be accepted by 3 of 4 poll judges (2 Dems and 2 Repbs) and the challenger is not involved once he's made the challenge. I really think all will go well and turn out well.
Breatheeee!
Ginny

30. This could be explosive!
This might turn into an unmanageable situation very quickly! People are tired of the GOPer's shit! The GOPers are playing with a powder keg this time! A bus load of GOPer bully boys like the ones in Miami Dade county in 2000, might ignite a war tomorrow in parts of Ohio! If you pay your taxes you should have the right to vote and to have that vote counted fairly! Anything less is undemocratic! It seems to me that the Right Wingers are asking for trouble!

33. PEOPLE -- THIS IS NOT TRUE (yet)
Sorry for the caps, but I've posted to this thread too many times.

NO OTHER NEWS SOURCE is reporting this, which is strange since this would normally be a huge story.

It's not posted on the 6th Circuit's web page and it's not very plausible that they would rule on it this quickly.

I'm not saying it won't happen, but Fox is getting this wrong.

Someone should contact them and tell them either to clarify their website or remove the entire blurb until they have more info. But for now it appears to be a clueless (or hopeful) reporter who is confusing the state Supreme Court issue with the 6th Circuit.
