I shook John Kerry's hand tonight!
At his rally at Joe Louis Arena in downtown Detroit. And to think, I almost didn't even go! The doors to the arena opened at about 2:30, so I figured the wait would be too long when I would be able to get there. But just in case, I decided to drive by the arena on the way home. It looked to me like the wait was going to be short, so I ducked into my favorite parking spot, and I was soon on my way into the arena. My steel toed boots held me up at the security gate for awhile, but before long I was inside the arena. For awhile, I took a seat near the top row, but since I was behind the podium, I was looking for a way to get out front so I could take some good pictures. I was resigned to sitting a long ways from the podium. Surprisingly, I soon realized that they had opened a small gate and were letting people from the stands go down onto the floor! I quickly made my way down onto the floor just before they closed the gate again. I worked my way over towards the walkway and waited. Kerry walked right by me on his way to the podium shaking several hands, but I didn't get a chance. At the end of the show, however, he came right back down the line, and this time I did shake John Kerry's hand.
Mind you, I have no ordinary handshake. In October 1992, I shook Bill Clinton's hand after a rally. You all know what happened next.
In October 2000, I shook Al Gore's hand at a rally, just days before he won the popular vote for President. Tonight, I'm quite sure the magic is still there, and I can now assure that John Kerry will be elected the next President of the United States of America.

6. Hey, that's a great story!
When I look at the film of John Kerry testifying before the Senate, it seems clear that he is destined for greatness. Did you get the same feeling in those days?
Also, Ernesto. Thank you for your service!

while he was in Des Moines. Lucky chance to be where I was standing..

Right next to the walkway down to the stage.. When he made his way back to leave, he worked the crowd and I was there waiting..

8. Wash it. I shook his hand on Friday
and now I have the flu! Someone in our crowd had cooties!

I know that everyone wants to meet the next President, but if you're sick, please don't shake the man's hand! *snifle*

5. John Kerry's handshake!
Now, can you see why at the first debate George Bush's face turned red and gave the appearnance of asking for mercy?

John Kerry has one of the strongest handshakes I have ever felt. It is symbolic of the leadership he will provide for America.

I was lucky to have met him for ten brief seconds in a hotel hallway the night before the Arizona primary earlier this year. It was unforgettable.

10. I shook his and Theresa's hands in Pittsburgh
I was in teh second row, reaching over someone. She mush have grabbed my hand four times, not really paying attention to which of the mass of hands she shook and which she didn't. I'm amazed these people aren't constantly sick. Did you have a whole swarm of Secret Service agents bending down looking into the crowd?

14. Actually, I think I shook both of his hands.
In those huge crowds you don't really get handshakes anyway. You reach out as if they're a rock star, and they grab your hand as they pass.
