What do you make of this? "My Son May be Dead"
Just saw this thread on Freerepublic with this message.... Kinda weird and sad no?

"Tomorrow I and my wife will vote for George W. Bush. Tonight, I heard on the radio that an Army soldier was killed in an ambush in southeast Afghanistan. My son is stationed in southeast Afghanistan. I checked Fox news and they have an article about a US soldier killed and two wounded in a patrol near Orgun. My son is on a patrol near Orgun. I do not care if it is him, tomorrow we will still vote for Bush. God bless America and God bless President Bush.

I have not told my wife. She is worried enough that Kerry might win. She does not need this additional worry."

He doesn't seem to care about that, or about all the other sons that will die/have died in AWOL's excellent little adventure.

46. Repugs only care about 'life' when it is in the womb
Or in a petrie dish . As soon as a baby is born , all pretence at actually caring is forgotten . So what if the mother is too poor and malnourished to produce milk , and too poor to buy formula to feed her baby . And so what if she can't afford proper health care to protect her child's health . And so what , if that child lives in a poor neighbourhood with underfunded schools . And so what , if that young man/woman lives in an area where there are few jobs and so has to join the army , to earn a living . And so what if that man/woman dies in a pointless war , they have no right to complain , they chose to go .

Yeah right . And they call themselves pro-life .

and unable to be in our wedding because he was in boot camp or some other training. A few months after we were married, we went to see him off on his flight to Viet Nam. His father and stepmother were there, too. After David got on the plane, his father said to us "Better him than me." He laughed and slapped my husband on the back when he said it.

WTF? :wtf:

32. Please have some compassion and understand what he meant to say.
He didn't mean to say he doesn't care if his son is dead. I could feel his torment as he wrote.

What he meant by "I don't care" is simply that his vote for Bush hasn't been changed by the fear for his son. His son is in immense danger and possibly dead. Even in the face of that, he is standing by what he believes.

The pain and the loss resulting from this war is personal to him. He votes from conviction. I'll defend to the death his right to vote wrongly. I expect he would do the same for me. Because that is what this country is all about.

He should be ashamed of himself. Does his son's life matter so little? It matters to me, and I don't even know this soldier.

Jenna and Babs are enjoying a safe and well-educated present and future. This young boy probably joined the military because he couldn't find a job or to get money for college.

the real anger and pain comes when we do withdraw. The longer we wait and the more who die, the greater this pain becomes. We will withdraw from Iraq regardless of who is elected, but how many more families must be torn apart before action is taken?

Losing someone in war is tragic, but losing this person for a war which cannot be won only makes it worse. Impossibilium nulla obligatio est

64. he has to think this way.
His son is in hell. His sweet little boy has learned to kill people, has been in situations where others try to kill him, and will have to deal with this all his life. If he is killed, or even just psychologically f***ed up the rest of his life, dad cannot bring himself to believe that this is ok unless the reason he is this way (*'s war) is the right thing to do. poor guy. How to stop this circular thinking is difficult. (My son was sacrificed so I have to believe it was worthwhile, otherwise it's too hard for me to deal with) Whereby I would instead get royally and totally pissed at the commander-in-thief.

67. "additional worry"?
This guy is either lying about having a son over there (in order to prove to his fellow Bushbots that he's the most "loyal"), or he's one sick brainwashed bastard-actually, he's sick either way! I've heard of cults where people would gladly sacrifice their children to the cult leader. I guess Freeptards share a lot in common with the followers of Manson and Jim Jones. :puke:

69. I honestly don't think he would know
such details as to exactly where his son is in Afghanistan. Southest ok, but on a patrol near Orgun? He probably wouldn't know that.

I hope it's not his son, either, but this smells fishy.

72. "I do not care if it is him" ......hmmm, well, neither does Bush.
So that makes two of them. And the prophet's (Bush) own mother certainly isn't going to "waste her beautiful mind thinking about body bags." I never cease to be amazed at such calousness, er, compassion, from the right.

74. Worried more about Kerry winning than son being dead? Right.
If it's true, it's some sick, sad shit.

75. ""I Do Not Care If It Was Him." He doesn't care that his son may be dead?!
Can these people get more heartless?

76. Bullshit.
This is bogus, just like all the "letters home" that were circulating from supposed soldiers, later exposed as coming from the propagandists.

BS detector went off the charts when he said he cared more about voting for * and didn't care if his SON was dead. Shameless. Do they think people on FR are stupid?
Oh ya, sorry....

81. UPDATE : EVEN WEIRDER THAN EXPECTED
Went to see this morning if there were any news about his son. There wasn'ty but I started reading old posts from that guy and here is what I found under the thread titled "Rumsfeld bans camera phones":

"My son is in Afghanistan. If he is not allowed to take any pictures, I will vote for Kerry. If Rumsfeld does push this thru, I will also donate money to Kerry. I still suspect a cover up. I am a former US Army officer and I want to know why no officers or NCOs have been charged. Where the hell were they when all of this shit was going on?"

Talk about fucked up priorities...
