Kerry Finishes Strong in Electoral College Polls
The final polls are in and after months of a virtual tug-of-war in the polls, John Kerry has taken a strong lead in the Electoral College while national polling numbers show a mixed bag.

The latest tally from Electoral-Vote.com, which tracks all of the state polls, shows Sen. John Kerry leading 298 to 231. New Mexico and New Hampshire are polling as tied. Additionally, Hawaii is still shown as a red state which is improbable.

The national polling numbers offer a different story and gives the advantage to Bush.

Opinion Dynamics gives it to Kerry 47% to 45%
Harris gives Kerry a slight edge with 48% to 47%
Zogby has it dead even at 48%
ABC gives it to Bush by one point, 49% to 48%
Gallup has Bush in the lead 49% to 47%
CBS gives the win to Bush by three points, 49% to 46%
Newsweek has Bush with a decisive four point win, 48% to 44%

2. if kerry wins electoral but not popular
expect rush to accuse the left of being hypocritical for not calling the election stolen. sure, it's not the same thing as having a supreme court rule in favor of disenfranchisement and robbing the rightful electoral vote winner of his presidency-but we know rush will blur that distiction

5. bush isn't illegitimate because he lost the popular vote....
he's illegitimate because he lost Florida and thus the electoral college.

So it wouldn't be the same thing at all (of course that never stopped repubs before)

3. A couple of corrections to that list of polls
Gallup actually has it tied 49-49 when leaners are factored in, Zogby has Bush up 1, and CBS came out with a new poll today, after adding Sunday, and they also have Bush dropping down to a 1-point lead, 47-46. Marist also came out today with a poll showing Kerry up 1, and so does Democracy Corps.
