LOUISIANA: Where Y'at??
I"m in New Orleans and I feel really great about this. Don't laugh! I know it's New Orleans but Louisiana is looking GOOD to me. This state has almost 3 TIMES as many registered DEMS as repugs...now WHY is it that La. isn't considered to be in play?

Mark my words people! We're takin Louisiana! You can quote me on that!

2. Nothing but Bush signs in Concordia Parish (East-Central)
Sickening.

Interesting though is that they cannot give me reason for voting FOR Bush, except to say that "I hate Kerry, he would be a disaster."

These people are nuts, clueless, and voting on fear and prejudice. Fortunately the middle-class/rich white Bush supporters here are the minority here and can't control everything; everyone else is starving and pissed off.

4. While most of the folks in my neighborhood are *supporters...
I have a gut feeling Kerry can do well in Louisiana also. I don't think anyone seriously gave Kathleen Blanco a chance to beat Bobby Jindal but she did and because of that, I have hope!!!

Of course a big reason for Blanco's win had to do with Jindal being of Indian descent and Blanco having strong support in Acadiana, but I think if we get a big turnout, which I suspect will happen, Kerry will have more than a fighting chance!!!

6. How does the Senate race look?
The last polls I saw showed Vitter under the magical 50%.

7. Vermilion Parish, very rural....larger turnout than expected but
nothing spectacular, damn it. I personally registered 40 new voters, current and former students of mine, now have to call them to make sure they go vote. North Louisiana is major bush*, but at least South LA outnumbers them. Does Kip Holden have a chance in BR? Have been watching him a bit on TV, and he looks and sounds mayoral...good luck, Kip!

9. Baton Rouge here
I just moved to an older neighborhood near city lake/golf course and find the absence of signs eerie. Being new to the neighborhood I had no idea what to expect when I put my Kerry/Edwards sign in the yard. The only problem I had was on Halloween night which was candy related not election related.

My guy had to drive to Arkansas last week and said he was surprised to see a lot of Kerry/Edwards signs in yards while driving up through the northern part of the state.

I can't get a feel for what is happening here. I guess we will know later in the day.
