I must admit shock it is this close. Losing faith in American values
when a president can be this much of a f*ck up and not get more visceral reaction coming out in these polls. I mean, he has been HORRIBLE. NOt only has he been radical and extreme in his policies..he has then executed very poorly on those ideas.

It must be that his gamble really was that they would spend 4 years feeding their base and hope that was enough to overcome other voters. It's just amazing to me.

I was so hoping the landslide would start to show early so there could be no room for fraud.

1. Americans are brainwashed by
the corporate media, that's why it's so close. If the media did its job correctly, Bush would be in a maximum security federal prison today.

8. You are exactly right
And it's an important point because even if a massive turnout today gets Kerry into the White House, the media situation remains the same. We MUST change this in order to effect any lasting change in this country and it needs to be a focal point for the new administration.

2. I'd have to agree with you there.
I am ashamed of many of my fellow Americans. I could see Bush having maybe 10% support from those who are utterly stupid, but he's got a lot of support from a lot of dimwits who just have no clue how bad he is. I'm not going to worry, though. Kerry will win and hopefully these dimwits will be able to get a better education once he implements help to send them to college.

19. Numbers don't add up
The numbers in that Washington Post poll don't make sense. It has Kerry leading by four to six points in the East, Mid-West and West, and Bush leading in the South. OK. Then it says that overall, Bush leads 49% to 48%. The south can't be that big.

6. I'm with you. I don't have a clue how any President in history could
survive such a terrible record to be hanging around on election day. This guy has done absolutely nothing for anybody except big business and there are people out there thinking he's the greatest thing since slice cheese. He is an international embarrassment, out right lier, can only speak in sound bite simplistic terms at best and can't understand the world or the country he leads. He insults his own people and won't talk or take advice from his own political allies, feels he has no need to explain to anyone to include the American people why hes doing what hes doing or what he expects the outcome to be. But above all its not just Bush that is a complete fuck up its his entire joke of administration from Ridge to Thompson to Rice to Norton to Ashcroft to Powell to Rumsfield to Paige and that's not counting their deputies and other appointees all have been complete and abject failures in every fucking thing they have done. Yet Bush is tops in some people who know better minds.

I don't know what it's going to take. I just hope we can get rid of him today.

9. Many people are being quided by fear..................
they're afraid that if we chose a new President now, that it will make them less safe. That's a very lame excuse, but when you consider that's all B/C have been running on plus the negligence of the MSM to provide the facts in this election, I can see why they're afraid. There are enough people in this country that know what's REALLY going on to offset that ignorance. We will win. There will be a new direction for our country and not a moment too soon. GO KERRY/EDWARDS!

10. I admit that I often feel the same.
But I am going to see what happens today before I make any final judgements about our country.

11. Just because the media say it is close does not mean that they
have an accurate gauge on the pulse of the electorate.

14. I know what you mean
I just got back from voting, and some made no secret about who they were voting for. Saw friends who we know for a fact are freepers. Others were making a show with their illustrated voters' guides with Smirk's ugly mug prominent.

I swear, I could feel my blood pressure shooting through the top of my head like mercury in an overheated thermometer. A part of me wanted to tell them as they walked out, "Thanks for voting for killing my kids." I keep reminding myself that this is their right too, and if I am as committed to the democratic process as I know I am, I can't feel this angry and frustrated. But I do anyway.

But still. How anyone can vote for this man in good conscience with the country and world in such a shambles is freaking BEYOND ME. Are people that brain dead????

I did not get any sleep last night. Watching the early news this morning I damned near broke down and cried as it really hit home just how much is at stake today -- and it is going to be a LONG day.

The question now becomes: How many of us have been paying attention?

16. the character of the american people is sadly
overblown with hype -- like our history.
and i agree with so much obvious evidence of incompetence, greed and corruption it's hard to see why it's close -- but you hit the nail on the head when you talk about the character of the american people.

20. Win or lose, the fact it's been this close is shameful considering how
pathetic this lying coward of a president has been. How the polls don't reflect the performance and corruption of the criminal Bush is beyond human comprehension and one more black eye on this screwed up country.
