Anybody have observations on whether lot of young are voting??

What do you see?? This whole thing IS coming down to them. They need to be out there in good numbers to do this today. What are you seeing???

2. don't know if this interests you or not, but in Boston

it was OVERWHELMINGLY young people at my precinct (I'm 25, and most looked to be my age or a few years younger), and this was at 7:05 this morning.

5. College kids at Rutgers are pumped up to vote

My son is 18 and made sure he was registered and voted early by absentee. At Rutgers they followed the campaign closely and had Debate Parties all over the campus. They are also organized and went from dorm to dorm to make sure everyone was registered and got their votes out.

Asked him if there was any Bush support and he said, "Are you kidding? No way!"

6. Hard to tell

Here in Florida, we had so much early voting . .

I just got back from voting (ok,I'll admit to tin-foil time -- I kept wondering who was going to guard those votes for days and days), anyway there was a guy there talking about voting for the first time. Most of the people I saw were NOT in that age bracket. One girl with a T-Shirt that said "Save The Babies" looked to be in her early 20s, but not much more than that. Of course, early morning might not be the best time to judge that.

All about turn-out now.

7. here at UW people have been pumped up to vote for a while now

I think turnout of young people will be great here in Wisconsin. Lots of students on campus have had K/E buttons and stickers for a long time and we have had a ton of political visits- Kerry last Thursday which a lot of students attended, Michael Moore with a huge crowd, and Tammy Baldwin on campus Friday. I think we could swing this state!

I saw about five or six yougins. one was asking how to use the machine, seemed like a first time voter. And this was at 7 AM - so I am sure when they roll out of bed later on, they will be there in greater numbers.

9. In Philly, MANY more kids than I've ever seen in a voting line.

This was a half hour after the polls opened, about 30 people in line, many more young people than I've seen in 25 years in this neighborhood, lot of first time voters. I feel GOOD about this...

11. Lots of young kids in line when I voted.

First time voters with their parents. Many were registering right there and then voting. (We have same-day reg in Wisconsin).

The kid behind me was with his dad, who was going over a sampla ballot with him. Nice to see the father show the important civic duty of voting.

I can't wait until I can take my son to the polls with me so he can vote. 12 more years and he will be another Dem voting for President Edwards' re-election :D

16. my 27 year old Niece just voted for the first time

She called me from Maryland to tell me that. I was so happy for her. I think if she took time out to vote it is a good sign as she is not a big political junkie etc. I'm heading out right now to vote in VA. Maybe this year VA can finally be on the right side!!
