People from Minneapolis: Who is recommended at the bottom of the ballot?
Who is recommended for lower level offices, such as judges, soil and water, etc.?

1. You can check the DFL sample ballot.
http://www.vote.dfl.org/ Type in your zip code and it will produce a sample ballot for your location. They don't endorse judges because they run without party affiliation, but there's a link to the Strib endorsements (Alan Paige and Susan Burke were two of them).

2. Minge and Page (Judges), Lee and Flanagan for School Board
David Minge is up for re-election. He's the former Rep for the old 2nd CD. He was defeated by Mark Kennedy in 2000 by only a couple hundred votes. He's now a ciruit court judge up for re-election.

Alan Page also has opposition this year, but definately deserves to be re-elected.

Lydia Lee and Peggy Flannagan are the DFL-endorsed school board candidates. I don't recall if the Mpls DFL endorsed a third candidate after the primary.

That's about all I know.

4. Here's who I voted for
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 10:09 AM by ftbc
MN Supreme Court
1. Alan Page
2. Helen Meyer
MN Court of Appeals
1. David Minge
2. R.A. (Jim) Randall
District Court Judge
4th District (Hennepin Co.)
1. Thor Anderson
2. Susan Burke
3. LaJune Lange
School Board
1. Peggy Flanagan
2. Lydia Lee
3. Dennis Shapiro

The judges I voted for were either endorsed by Minnesota Women Lawyers or their opponent was a clear wing nut.

6. I'll probably vote for Shapiro, too
He sounds like one of the few incumbents on the Board who actually listens to constituents.

I tried to vote before work, but the line outside the polling place was at least 100 yards long-- with another 200 yards inside to get to the polls themselves. Even though we have about 80% turnout in my precinct in a normal election, this year is unprecidented in recent memory.

I also live in one of the most liberal leg districts in the state, too, so this is a VERY good sign!

7. Don't forget to bring your ID
Just in case Cruella Kiffmeyer's new software kicked you off the list. (This happened to my wife in the primaries).

5. I'm clueless about the soil & water candidates
I googled the names, went to the Hennepin County Elections page, and came up with zilch. The only contested soil & water seat is in the western suburbs, and since I couldn't find any info, I left it blank.
