I an a lurker who would like to thank everyone who posts at DU

for keeping me sane the past year+. I mostly don't post out of shyness, and the ribbing that 'newbies' get. That said- DU has been like a Democracy Rape Crisis Center online- that is the most apt analogy to how I have felt since 2000- VIOLATED!!!! So, thanks again everyone, and I make the promise to you that I won't go back to sleep again, even if they don't succeed at stealing it- which I don't think they will. I WILL be involved in my democracy, and I will teach my children not to take it for granted, too!!!!!!!!!! HAPPY VOTING!!!!!!!!!! XOXOXOXOX to everyone! THanks for the RANTS!:kick:

I generally like the discussion, but I don't post much because of the tin-hat folks here who think everything is a conspiracy, and don't like any dissent. WHile that may be fun for them, it doesn't help the advancement of our issues. I've been lurking for a good long while and it's been great to see the activism. I finally decided to actually register because there is no reason to be quiet any longer. Interesting going to vote today. I'm in Conn. and there is rarely a line, even in a presidential year. I had to wait this year. Not like in Fla to be certain but a 10 minute wait in the middle of the morning is pretty unusual. The other thing to, is that our Congressional race is also a dead heat. The RNC actually sent people in from out of state to meet and greet, or something, at polling places throughout the district.

I was actually thinking of trying to write out a nice post today as way of expressing thanks, but someone beat me to the punch. I've been reading for the last six or so months, and really have only taken much of an interest in politics in general in about the last 9-10 months. This site has been great help keeping me up to date and informed as well as entertained and I suppose in a way comforted. I can see by the reponses I'm not alone, there are a number of us out there who maybe don't chime in as much, but we're here, reading, learning, watching the fireworks, and it is much appreciated.
