I just got back from voting. I live in a Republican precinct in Alabama. The line at about 9 a.m. was out of the back of the Baptist Church where we vote -- 90-minute wait. I figured this was not a good sign because I have never had to wait to vote before.
But when I finally got in I saw why the line was so long -- only half as many poll workers as usual. And they were not happy.
In Alabama you have to produce ID to vote, but there is a long list of acceptable forms of identification, including utility bills, government checks in your name, etc. etc. One of the acceptable forms of ID is an employer ID badge.
So when I got to the table I gave them my employee ID card, which has PRESS written in huge letters. "Don't you have a driver's license?" she asked. "Your sign over there says this is OK," I replied. "We have to have a driver's license," she said. "Fine," I said, whipping out the DL.
The media just gets no respect anymore. LOL
Sidenote: While waiting in line, the elderly couple in front of me were remarking how there is not a single Bush yard sign to be found in our community -- not one. Then she said with a very serious face, "And I just found out that those cars with the W sticker are for Bush." LOL
