District 6
With all the horror stories I've read, I was wondering what it was going to be like. This is my first presidential election since moving into this district three years ago, I've voted in others.
I dropped off my daughter at her afternoon pre-school class, moved to a different room since the polls were in her class. First thing I noticed was no signs anywhere, one police officer and one security officer. Both looked real bored and were just helping people find parking, holding doors, etc.
I get in, go straight to my table, (two districts vote there) find the person with my name, sign in, no id, no one there at all to 'challange' anyone. I get in line behind 5 people, vote and leave all within 15 minutes.
In line people were chatting, being nice, polite. I pointed out some of my daughter's drawings on the wall to the folks in line like a proud father. Everyone was helpful and nice. Just a great experience.
I wish everyone could have an experience like that.
