New Yorkers and Californians -- PLEASE VOTE!!!!
I realize that the senate races in California and New York aren't competitve, and that Kerry will win each state handily. But Kerry needs high turnouts in both states in order to pad his popular vote totals. If it weren't for strong turnout in both states in 2000, Gore would never have won the popular vote.

Remember, it's not enough for Kerry to win. He's got to win BIG. If his margin of victory is narrow, the GOP will blame it on widespread voter fraud. So Kerry's margin of victory has to be so great that even the Republican shills won't be able to spin this as anything other than a decisive Kerry victory.

1. Yes
Already voted Absentee in the Bay Area.

I hear there are long lines here as well, and I'm seeing lots of "I voted stickers"

3. Heavy voting in NYC today. VERY HEAVY
People are on a mission. Worry not.
When I voted this AM there were lines at 7 AM and there are never lines (usually) till the end of the day.

18. I voted in a rural area of the central coast
and also no lines. I arrived at 9am so I don't know if it might have been busier early in the morning.

I do not have the impression there is complacency here even though our experiences were one of easy-in, easy-out.

5. I agree. Even in Connecticut we must all vote.
Every single vote for Kerry is one more vote that gives him an even stronger mandate!

9. Lots of important local races in every state
Fundies are taking over local legislatures and school boards everywhere. Find out who the candidates are. I used to not vote for the school board b/c I don't have kids but now I realize how important these positions are.

10. Good turnout in NYC
People were waiting outside the polling place at 6:00 a.m. in my NYC neighborhood. My husband and I were voters number 27 and 28 at 6:30ish in our district. Our polling place has about 4 districts so I estimate about a hundred people voted in the first half hour. A poll worker told me she had never seen anything like it.

Good post. It is not a good thing for anyone to make assumptions about
how an election will turn out and not vote. "It ain't over 'til it's over."

19. I am in NYC today.
There has been a steady line of voters all day at the Wall Street Polling station. At one point it looked like an hour wait (about 60 people in line).

20. Voted via absentee for California
and I'm currently a New York college kid. :) I guess I move from big blue state to big blue state.

Plus we have to remind the GOP that CA is OURS and that no movie star Republican Governor is going to change that. I hope we win BIG in CA and NY.

No way.

I just finished filling out my sample ballot, and it took me about an hour doing last-minute research. Whew!

We'll come through for ya!

24. Oh those props were fun
I voted via absentee; took me forever..read the arguments/counter-arguments for all of them..and ended up pretty much voting the way the California Democratic Party endorsed. Could have saved myself alot of time probably, but had to research it out for myself..won't complain though, it was fun. :)

We have such good representatives. However this is a real Republican town... No line! In and out in minutes. We used my favorite ballot. Just blacken out the little circle. No chance of mistakes.
