Too many volunteers, not enough jobs
I wandered over to the Scott Democratic Headquarters a few hours ago, and they said to go ahead and sign in, but they in reality, did not have enough for people to do, as all phone banks were manned, all walkers were canvassing, all absentee ballot pickups were taken care of, everything. So a group of us went and stood on street corners and waved our signs and encouraged people to vote for Kerry. We got a great number of people honking and giving us the thumbs up, more positive than negative. Too many volunteers, not enough jobs, more positive than negative, it looks good for Kerry/Edwards and Democrats here in Scott County, Iowa. I think we may pull this off people.

1. I was scheduled to volunteer today, but got a call
last night that they were all set. Rats! I was planning to take the day off. Not getting much work done anyhow. But they didn't have anything for me to do :-(

2. I have a very sick little one, they told me to go home too.
That's what Dems are all about. This election is about 20 years from now, when my son is an adult.

I like the symptoms we are seeing...

I've never been more proud to be a yellow dog Democrat.

4. Same here in Virginia

Nothing to do. The dude called me back and said we are in great shape...I asked him if I could swipe a Kerry sign on the side of the road after the election and he said "swipe as many as you want." I want one for safe keeping.

5. Same thing happened to me
In ALABAMA. I went to Dem HQ, and was told that pretty much the only thing to do was sit in a chair and watch the news.

6. We had so many volunteers we ran out of lists of people to call.
The volunteers were standing around waiting for new lists of people to call. Phones/chairs were also in short supply. It was great to see so many people working to elect Kerry.

10. Same in Dayton, Ohio.
Last week I was told they have plenty of volunteers and no one could think of any new jobs.

We have a database of 4,000 people; in 2000 we had 600.

We're going to turn Ohio BLUE!!

11. Yup, I drove two vanloads of seniors this a.m. and then
they were so overloaded that the volunteers decided to split up duties and each get a little time and then go. When I left late this a.m. there were no seats in the place because there was a volunteer overflow

Of course, In Lubbock Texas you do run out of Democrats to call or drive to the polls fairly quickly

On the other hand, still snowing here---keeps those Republicans indoors!

13. Help me call OH & FL
I signed up to do GOTV phone calls to Ohio and Florida today. I am getting people who haven't voted yet and giving them that extra encouragement to vote. I even got an undecided, some of these people it's going to be whoever talks to them last gets the vote. She was looking for positive Kerry info. So if you want numbers, PM me and I'll give you 10 at a whack.

14. I've gotten 4 Kerry votes to the polls in Richmond VA -
haven't been as busy as I thought I would be. We have 215 volunteer drivers here...
Election Protection has lawyers at the precincts I took people to - those folks are great!
