Avenging President Gore
I said this in another thread, but what the hey, I'll post it here too.

When my wife and I go vote today, we are voting for Kerry for many, many good reasons which I don't have to go into here. Many here have made the case for Kerry more eloquently than I ever could, and I have nothing further to add.

However, all things being equal, the number one impetus for our votes today is to AVENGE the injustice perpetrated four years ago against the rightful president, Al Gore.

Bush supporters like to justify the theft of the election by positing the rhetorical question, "Can you imagine if Al Gore had been president during 9-11?" Yes, I can imagine it. He would have kept his focus on the real issues and not used it as an excuse to invade Iraq. In other words, if he had been president during 9-11, he would be running for re-election based on his successes in dealing with it, not exploiting voter fear to distract people from a record rife with ideological extremism and failed foreign policies.

Today we will prove that we NEVER forgave the Supreme Court, James Baker, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, and the other assorted cast of characters who illegitimately shoehorned Bush into the office that Al Gore rightfully won. Since that day, Al Gore has proven again and again that he won the popular vote for a reason, and this has only helped to illuminate the level of the injustice that was perpetrated against him and against us four long years ago.

So, today is the day of reckoning. Today we vote Governor Bush OUT. Today we avenge Al Gore. He deserves it, and if Kerry wins
the election tonight, I hope Gore can take some comfort from it, as well as a whole lot of vindication.

5. Wear comfy shoes!
You may be standing for a while. ;)

And as someone who bought into the "Eh, Gush, Bore, they're both the same, it won't matter who wins" crap and didn't vote in 2000, I was out the door to my polling place before 7 am today. Lesson learned.

13. I'm back!
God DAMN that felt good.

Don't worry about what you did in past elections. We all have a vote or two that we deeply, deeply regret casting (or not casting). The shame is in not learning from that.

By the way, after voting, you should listen to the songs "Wicked World" and "War Pigs" off the first two Black Sabbath albums, as I'm doing right now. It's much more prescient stuff than they ever got credit for, and dammit if some of the lines wouldn't make good campaign speech material!

Wicked World

The world today is such a wicked place
Fighting going on between the human race
People go to work just to earn their bread
While people just across the sea are countin' the dead

A politician's job they say is very high
For he has to choose who's got to go and die
They can put a man on the moon quite easy
While people here on earth are dying of all diseases

A woman goes to work every day after day
She just goes to work just to earn her pay
Child sitting by a body life is harder
He doesn't even know who is his father

War Pigs

Generals gathered in their masses,
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction,
Sorcerers of death's construction
In the fields the bodies burning,
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind,
Poisoning their brainwashed minds

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave it all to the poor

Time will tell on their power minds,
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess,
Wait 'till their judgement day comes

Now in darkness world stops turning,
Ashes where the bodies burning
No more War Pigs have the power,
Hand of God has struck the hour
Day of judgement, God is calling
On their knees the war pigs crawling,
Begging mercy for their sins
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings

I'll be voting in person, so I can't communicate anything to him, but here's hoping that tonight, he gets our messages LOUD AND CLEAR.

9. Kerry should give Gore a spot in the cabinet
I voted at lunch not a wait at all. I live in a very liberal part of Cincinnati in 2000 it went 511-153 for gore (this is just the two precincts that vote at the church) with 56% voter turn out, should be much higher today. also bush only won Cincinnati by 20000 votes, thats slim considering Cincinnati is Republican,Conservative heaven.

14. I still do not think 9/11 would have happened on Al's watch!
Al would not have been on vacation after he read the report Bush had in his hands a month before 9/11!
