Bush left Texas and is now watching the returns tonight from the White House. Saw a local posting here in DC about a midnight "Get out of our House" rally in front of the White House to support Kerry.

1. What does this mean?

Will he have a victory/concession speech from the freaking Oval Office?

7. Is this the first time he's actually ever set foot in the White House?
Maybe he wanted to see the Oval Office while he still can.

12. I think Iraq may have something to do with his travel plans.
I'm worried the situation there may be tipping or a big attack is about to be launched.

16. Acceptance speeches are traditionally given in home states
Clinton did it in 96. Guess they stopped payment on the balloons then? :bounce:

17. This has been the plan all along--to watch from the Reagan Building
in DC. I heard someone, maybe Cheney's non-gay daughter, say this last night.

Bush and Cheney will be watching the returns from the Reagan Building in DC and that's where they'll hold their "victory party" :cough: according to what they said last night.

20. The whole WH staff was out on the rope line
Like I have NEVER seen before. They must have left two operators in the building to answer the phones, they were ALL out there to greet Marine 1. Laura, weecowboy and the twins got off, some schmuck trotted out the dog, and then, uncharacteristically, weecowboy actually walked the line. He usually does the royal wave and keeps moving, and there usually is not a huge crowd when he plops down.

It reminded me of the last days of Nixon, how the staff turned out en masse for the "last time." It'll be too effing cold in January, and he won't be leaving from the WH lawn, anyway. It was almost like this could be the LAST opportunity to get one of those priceless pictures, with the rope line, the helo, the energy. Problem was, the energy looked rather forced.

You never want people to feel bad, but all I can say is I am feeling the weight lifting up off of US, and slowly settling onto THEM. The big difference is, they WILL 'get over it', once they see the benefit of having an intelligent, thinking, engaged ADULT in charge.

Call your friends and neighbors, GOTV--if you know someone who is having car trouble, or takes public transportation, call and offer them a ride to their polling place. EVERY VOTE COUNTS! Stay motivated!!!
