A couple of my co-workers who are registered republicans followed this route. Iraq, economy, deficit and debate performances finally worked and they decided they could not re-elect *. They pondered over Badnarik for a while before finally voting for Kerry. They reasoned why waste the votes on a 3rd party candidate. Kerry isn't that bad.. at least they have not heard of anything really bad other than flip-flops which being reasonably intelligent they can deal with. I am in software industry in CA and know quite a few programmers/scientists who consider themselves more libertarian than liberal but will go for Kerry over * any day. Here's hoping that a lot of republicans/moderates/independents all over America followed similar reasoning. I would take any margin, but would really enjoy a 5%,310-320 victory.
