Has anyone been push-polled?

What did they say? Who were they from? When?

It is my understanding that it can be pretty brutal.

1. Never been polled. Never been push-polled.

Not too surprising. They don't need to talk to too many people to get a statistically relevant sample. Of course, they need to select that sample properly, which they don't/can't.

3. Here's an example of push-polling

Bush did it to McCain in South Carolina in the primaries.

Someone calls and says, "Hi, I'm calling from an independent polling company, can I ask a few questions. Then, asks a few innocent questions. Then asks, if you were to find out that Senator McCain had fathered an illegimiate black child, would you be more or less likely to vote for him?"

It's highly unethical obviously, but I think the reason why they are not illegal is because they are posing a supposed hypothetical question rather than saying something directly. However, many people take this as truth unfortunately. This dirty tactic worked for Bush against McCain.
