First exit polls give Kerry the edge in battleground states
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3-1342074,00.html

From Roland Watson in Washington

JOHN KERRY appeared to have the edge in the election over President Bush, according to early exit polls.

They showed the Democratic challenger had his nose ahead in the biggest battleground prizes of Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania. He looked well placed to win New Hampshire, won by President Bush four years ago. However, polls across the country were still open and analysts cautioned that the result would be close.

Mr Bush said that he was optimistic, but looked tense and sounded fatalistic after he voted in the fire station in Crawford, Texas. “I’ve given it my all. I feel calm,” he said.

1. Gore did well, too. Until the end. Let's remember that!

2. The Repukes questioning the election?
Funny. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette said yesterday that if Bush lost, he wouldn't question the election like Gore did-something about showing his character. I think the DG already decided yesterday that Bush is toast. But I don't think Bush will go out like they think he will.

BTW, AR is predicted to have over 70% turnout (only higher turnout was to elect Bill in '92, when over 80% voted)
