5. Probably to contest results already...
Michael Beschloss (sic) just reminded Peter Jennings that * did this in 2000 as well, called the press in to announce that he didn't believe in the results coming out of Florida.

That, and the fact he's a grandstanding little narcissist. (My assessment, not Beschloss's.)

of him sitting on a couch saying "it's going to be an interesting night" or something similarly vague and blah.

Why did he bother with that? What was that about? Well whatever it was, the networks didn't seem to pay too much attention to it.
