Bush to Declare Victory Tonight!
John King just reported on CNN. He will say "It's best for the country." Oh fuck...I can't take another day of this fraud let alone another 4 years.

9. Yes, he is serious.
CNN reporting he is waiting for Nevada and Michigan. Expect him in about 1 hour.

4. Maybe those folks in Iowa who haven't voted yet will see him
and vote for Kerry in retaliation. Ah, if only today had happened like in my dreams.

6. Will he stand under a "Mission Accomplished" banner, too?

Declaring victory is not the same as achieving a victory.

11. Reminds me of the story about when Napolean
was being coronated Emperor and took his crown from the pope or whomever was about to annoint him and put it on his own head, aparently deciding that he was above all others and didn't need to have ANYONE's blessing. Sound like anyone you know?

13. Yes exactly what I was thinking of
This is so bad. He must be stopped. This election was only half rigged, there will never be another fair election in this country if he gets back in office.

10. That is the absolute last thing he should do
Everything this freak does is meant to divide and diminish us, the American people. Declaring "victory" before all the votes are counted, after what happened last time, would be a truly despicable act.

:grr:

12. A truly despicable act among SO MANY
truly despicable acts. I suppose, once you've already guaranteed your place in the deepest pits of hell for all eternity, you might as well truly do ANYTHING.

19. Oh, no, it's the BEST possible thing he could do - for us!!
Bush declaring victory in the dead of night, surrounded by hacks and consiglieres, a full 16 EVs short of a victory - perfect!! It would piss a LOT of people off!

14. "Mission Accomplished" is SOOOOO yesterday
might as well pick up Orwell rather than go through this cheap 2nd rate version of 1984.

15. it's his MO
as a kid he would change the rules of a game to benefit him, then declare victory

but saying it don't make it necessarily so -- here's a couple of his "rosier" lines

he says economy is getting better -- bush*t
he says we are making progress in Iraq -- bush*t
he says (sometimes) we are winning the war on terra -- bush*t

as someone once said "stealing a close election is easier than stealing a landslide"

16. They're doing this so fast...
...that I believe there must be a massive problem in either Ohio or Florida that they're attempting to hide.

18. Just like he rushed into Iraq so we wouldn't find out he was lying about W
He's rushing to assume a presidency he knows he doesn't have the votes for.

20. I think this is a good sign.
If Bush were confident that he would win even with the provisional ballots he would not be doing this. He would do the decent thing and say that he agrees that every vote should be counted, and he's willing to wait.

Democracy is finished. I don't know what happens now, but it isn't good.
