Is it time to support a Constitutional Ban on Gay Marriage, full
gun rights, and prayer in schools?

If the party adopted these ideas and had candidates speak to them, couldn't we peel off a few states?

The best part is, we could say we support these things--we'd just get elected and do nothing about them.

Consider this: Bush carried all the wackos and he did not deliver anything in the last term. Can a woman still get an abortion? Is there prayer in schools? The Assult Weapons Ban is gone, but aren't there still background checks?

They've done a great job of getting elected and not delivering. Isn't it time, in the interest of survival to do the same?

We could also irresponsibly cut taxes. Guess who we'd get to blame in 8-12 years.

And yes I'm serious about all this.

3. No. I won't vote for that, even to get power
I will never back a party or candidate that supports banning gay marriage or prayer in schools.

I'd be voting Green if the Dems did this.

7. I feel the same way, I'm just saying that after winning the election
we just let the issues fade away. Thus there would be NO CHANGE in laws as they currently are--we'd just have more of our agenda passed in other areas.

5. Personally, I've always supported gun rights on non-military hardware.
And I don't even own a gun. But gun ownership is a tiny sliver of the social wedge when compared to the crushing power of the religious right.

11. Again, I'm a prod liberal who just fears a total
republican take over.

I'd also add, that all of this is contingent upon the fraud investigations.

14. I know, maybe I'm just to jaded.
Obviously people have jumped all over this thread. I'm on two hours sleep after working 4 hours yesterday on the campaign after a full work day.

I just don't know where to go at this point if the unthinkable in OH happens. Perhaps this topic might be better addressed in a few weeks/months.

I just don't want to be limited to the loyal oppostition. It's not like we have the votes for impeachment.

16. Why not a constitutional amendment banning divorce?
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 10:09 AM by evilqueen
That'll protect the "institution of marriage". Next step, all divorced people are hearby not eligible to serve in Congress or the Supreme Court.

And yes, I'm being facetious.

He says "twiddlededee, twiddledeedum, no difference between them" - and under your plan he'd be right.

18. No!
Why should we abandon our ideals? Why should we become bigots? We need new leadership in the party, we don't need to become evil.
